Temporary Storage Dilemma

I need to store a Mopar and don't have space right now. We are going to build a detached garage this summer but need storage now.

 Storage Unit at local Companies go for about $200.00 per month.

 Anyone use a fully enclosed outdoor canopy for storage with good results? They sell for about $400-$600 on line. Some of these look pretty nice and well made.

 I live in Tennessee so we don't have extreme winters.

 Any suggestions are appreciated.

I don't know how the wind and precip. are where you live, I have seen many cars beat to heck from those temporary shelters after windy weather. I would never take a chance on one and would leave my car out in the open before using one. $200/mo may be a cheap investment in the end.

This is what  i used while I was buliding my garage.  I built a floor with pressure treated lumber.

I had something similar and I wouldn't us it again.  It was in Maryland and I had just put the Challenger back in the garage and put my trailer in there for the rest of the winter.  A snow storm hit and it collapsed and bent the fenders up pretty good but that was it.  Glad the Challenger wasn't in there. Use the funds you are thinking about for the temp cover and use them for the storage. Then the car will be safer and you won't have a wrecked shelter to throw away after the thing gets blown over. Plan the garage build well in advance, then your storage will be short term versus long term. Good luck with the direction you go.

I would not do it for reasons mentioned, plus they are damp. no real ventilation

I live in CT and the winter i used it we had the most snow in 100 years. It is well built and I attached it to the wood floor .  It had vents in the front and back.

Another idea.     If you have any car shows/cruise in's in your area attend one. Get to know some folks and mention your looking for temp storage. Maybe you get lucky and somebody has an open half or third of a 2 or 3 car garage.  Never know.

this was my first thought as well. rent a buddies garage space for a few months. win win for both, you get solid storage without the worry and they get a few extra $$ in their pocket. depending on the buddy, may even get it stored for free
