70 Challenger, funky rear valance

Just took my rear valance off and this can not be correct, from what I remember from my other cars, it should have a tab with holes that attaches to the rear quarter edge with 2 bolts and J-nuts on the inside right? Now it is attached with 2 screws visable on the outside, see holes. Suspect some home made solution here. I have no tabs on the valance OR the quarters, weird, maybe someone cut them off, but why...
Does anyone have a picture of the area? I searched but found a lot of rear valance questions, but few answers.

there are two tabs on each side.  If nobody has pics I can get them in a day or two

Definitely not right. The valance has tabs that fold back inward (like a V when viewed down the edge). The lower quarters have tabs that come out to line up with the holes in the tabs on the valance.

Thanks guys. Bad job by a previous owner then, maybe I can make the tabs and weld them back, valance is fine other than that. Would be great with a picture of the tabs, and if I could get the measurements for the holes, from one edge of the valance and in between the holes. If make new tabs on both valance and quarters it would be good to get the holes to be in the correct position.

You didn't post any pics before you removed it or say why you did, but if it fit and was secure put it back on and leave it alone.

Thats an option but I don't like the "homemade" look that the visable bolts add. I removed it because I'm cleaining up the car under, gonna sandblast and paint under, change the tank.

Hey my car was like that too.  Will the 70 be the same as a 74? I have my valance off and can get pics and measurements.

Picking up this old thread. After removing undercoating from inside the quarters, I now see that the lower part of the quarters are replaced, that also explains the lack of drain holes in front of the rear wheels (I asked about that in another thread). This was probably done in the early 90's, I have talked to several of the previous owners and figured out when this must have been done. It's not a bad job, but the quarters and rear valance do not look correct where they meet, and it does not look like a "home job" either. Was there other manufacturers of body panels (other than OE correct AMD) earlier (80-90s) that didnt make the parts exactly like stock?

When I did my quarters in the mid 80's, I had to fabricate the entire valence attachment area.

My vote also is that all years bolt on the same. I have a 74 and bought an early version recently at a swap meet to try out making custom exhaust cutouts. Suspect it's a 70/71 version. No license plate extension bracket on it. It bolted in place with no issue. It is still off car so if you want pics and measurements I could provide some.
