AMX on Barret-Jackson
« on: January 26, 2016 - 09:14:41 PM »
Dang, beautifully restored jet black 500 hp 68 AMX,
could only bring $27,000.  Perhaps an indicator of
things to come.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

How much do you think an AMX should go for? I am actually looking at the cars as I'm there and there is not a lot of quality examples that are going through currently.

Seemed like a pristine resto-mod with 500 hp.  They said the interior was great too.
Obviously, at the time, it went for what the market wanted to pay.  But I saw one similar
go for about $40,000 a year or two ago. You can't get a junk one for under $10k. The stock
market being way down may be spooking some folks.  Seems every car that sold so far, had
about twice the selling price of work into it.

That was a beautiful car.  I thinkt he best if seen in a long time for an AMX.

Well, that's good to hear, as I could not inspect it. Maybe a beautiful restoration/mod
would have got 40 or 50K.

Downside is that you would have to believe that AMX really did dyno at 500hp which I really don't believe.

Folks really like to talk a nice game but never prove it.

Haha I agree with Bryan, everyone seems to think their cam and headers with some garbage Eddie carb makes 500hp, doesn't matter if it's a big block, small block, they are always "500hp"  :roflsmiley:

I was just looking at cars-online's website, half a dozen restored Amx's, most of them Going for under 30k, one for 35k and one for 39k, both very accurate show cars
