Posting Pictures
« on: January 30, 2016 - 06:17:34 PM »
I'm new to the forum and I find it's helpful to post pictures when explaining a problem. How do I attach a picture with my post? I went to Attacments and other options. I chose the file and clicked on post. When I look at what I posted I don't see the picture.  Thanks This forum is great.

You gotta make sure its the right format, I use jpg (I notice some gets the extension .jpeg, that wont work, change to .jpg) and that the size is under 300kB. Here's one in the right format and size.

I checked the properties of the photo. It's jpg.  I'll try it again. Thanks

Uploading it as an attachment means it won't last here within a year.
The forum here has to clean house here every once in a while so we can add attachments.

Changing it to a link via an image uploader and it'll last for years.

I used to use Imageshack but then they went to being profit company.

Now I use http://postimage.org/index.php?um=flash

I thought I read that was fixed? Pictures would stay. No fun to find old threads with great info, but pictures are gone.

With a picture hosting site you can get waaaay larger pictures to post here.  As you all know we love pictures, so the bigger the better.

Notice the size of picture that soundcontrol posted. pretty small.  Now look at the picture that I can post from photobucket.

Photobucket is alright but I've noticed in the past that the pictures uploaded from members here are gone later on.

You shouldn't have to babysit pictures uploaded here later on.   :2cents:

So, if you move your pictures around in your photobucket account, like moving a picture you posted that is in your bucket, to another folder in your account, the picture will be lost wherever you have posted it.

That's why photobucket pictures disappear.  I organized a bunch of pictures, put them all into albums instead of having thousands in the basic bucket.  When I did this all my previous pictures that I had posted were gone.  I tried to go through some of them and repost them.  I'll repost any of the pictures that I moved when someone asks.

Sounds like a hassle to me.

Pictures posted from postimage.org that I put here over 2 years ago are still here.
They're non profit so they won't put a ceiling on how many bites you've uploaded.

After I upload, you can click on the picture and save as the new adjusted size and file it to help manage picture sizes in the computer.

You did read that and it is true . . . The admin made some arrangements and we should not have that issue again.  Pictures are here to stay!

Now Money Pit . . . Did you get an error when you tried to post a picture?   :clueless:

Thats great 4Cruizn! I post a lot of pictures and its just to much hassle to do a 2 step process by uploading to another site first, then post links here. With all the years of people posting and uploading pictures, this site is worth so much for all e-body owners, compare it to computer support, where you have to pay a fee by the minute to get support, here its all free! If all pictures are on other sites, and those sites close down or people cancel their accounts etc. this site becomes less of a value to all, (even sponsors). So its in our interest to keep it in the family.
The admins and mods here are doing a great job!
