If negative comments aren't welcomed then don't post it on an online forum.  It's a 4 door ebody, take it as it is, the reactions are as expected. From what I see there's just as many positive remarks here. The man has the right to post his feedback

Thank you.

Built because someone had a vision, skill set and financial resources to pull it off.
I for one appreciate the work put into the creation. Would I own one? No. As an example I also would not own an Impala. Just not my taste.
I have a friend that is the Corvair guru. Owns a basic convertible a Corsa a Ramp Side and several others. All restored concourse correct. More money in them than they are worth (multiple times over). He gets the same sometimes heated discussions of "why would you"?
Because we are mechanical beings.
On another note for "why build it". Can anyone find another thread that has generated more colorful "discussion" than this one?
Every business should have that amount of advertisement for their capabilities.

Yes.  At least there's a shred of evidence that car was going to be considered by Chrysler.

Yes.  At least there's a shred of evidence that car was going to be considered by Chrysler.

Well, Tom, yes, everyone can have an opinion, however when one starts blatantly lying about information which has already been stated as fact, that then goes from opinion to a lie.  One fact is obviously clear.  The only real opinion that's mattered is Dave's as he is the builder.  He is the end result with what is done or not done to the car.

Tom, since you seem to have such great opinions, and you agree that it would be a great idea to build a 71 T/A, why not apply your wisdom and knowledge to it and build your own 71 T/A concept / prototype.

Yellowthumper -

Thank you for your reply.  That was a mature and honest response, or as others would say..... opinion..   (and I respect it because of the way it was delivered).  While it might not be what you like, you respectfully stated your opinion and did not try to bicker or start an argument over something that is not necessary.

Msbaugh-

While I don't mind negative comments, as its not my build, I do find it insulting that one particular person would come out here and try to lie about things that were said and addressed to him in another forum.  He already had the answer, yet still can not seem to understand it.  I don't mind him giving his opinion but as long as it is that.... opinion.  To completely disregard facts that were stated or to twist it around for his own benefit is just insane.

As to why its being built?  Who cares!   Wait, I think I have an answer..... because he CAN!

I have no personal interest in that T/A project nor did I bring it up.  It was Brads70.

In fact, I never mentioned anything about building my own 1971 T/A.

What have I blantantly lied about?

You just said  "when one starts blatantly lying about information which has already been stated as fact, that then goes from opinion to a lie."

Please explain.

I don't know anything about this car other than it exists. I highly commend the build as the amount of planning and skill to make it even remotely come out looking like it does says great things about the builder's skills.

As for why..... last I looked this was a car forum based on performance vehicles made in the 1970's; not a Prius or Camry forum.. Everyone on here has modified something or the other. One could argue that restoring these cars is modifying them in a sense ergo, we are all hot rodding to one degree or another; some obviously a lot more than others. Would some of these same comments be made if the builder had welded up the doors on a new charger? No, most people would comment how FCA should have done that themselves, yet in the case it is some how incorrect?? I think some have far too much time on their hands. The amount of effort it takes to be different with no guarantee of success is extraordinary.

You don't have to like it unless you name in on the title, other than that keep walking. Yes, you are all entitled to your opinion, but slamming it isn't doing anything; it isn't like the builder is going to say "ahhhh so and so on CC thinks my car sucks, guess I will scrap it"... I am definitely not of the "kinder/gentler" generation, but I have come to learn that the internet is full of self proclaimed experts, braggarts, and highly opinionated fools who seem only to like to stir up crap. This is the reason there isn't crap on TV but dumbass realty crap that isn't realty but scripted BS.

Sorry for the rant, but having built a car or 2 I can completely respect the amount of skill it takes to do something like this. I would rather understand the how than the why. "Just because" is what hot rodding and cars is all about.

ok, all better...

No worries, I am sure I have been accused of worse. I don't know ECS or anyone from there, but the car is what it is, that is undeniable. If someone doesn't like, that is their prerogative. I am not saying I love it, would buy it, etc. I merely respect what it took to design and build it. I am sure the guys who did the Corvette station wagons got the same haters; again not a fan but to have the vision and ability to pull it off and not look like a pile of crap is commendable.

Personally I am not a big lover of restored cars, but I respect what it takes to do one, especially well. Doesn't matter what you do or like, there is always someone hating it for one reason or another. The funny thing is that most of the haters pay someone to change their oil and tune up their cars. True gear heads and car people can respect the art whether they like the end result or not.

Save the hate for the hacks and scammers; they are much more deserving IMO.

I have seen photo's taken and the car looks out of proportion.  resq302 have you seen the said project car in person..
Just a thought..
Is there a build site on the internet to view?

IMO I think the proportion aspect comes from the high door openings. I stared at the pictures for awhile and that is what I came away with. The roof line looks right when you ignore the door openings. I understand why the openings are as they are, just not what you are used to seeing.

At the risk of creating even more of a crap storm, this car would be way cool with the "optional" 440-6 or hemi and a 4 speed (like some of the B and C bodies). How about a rallye or shaker hood.. lol. I have to say that is what I would do, despite chasing the "what if" dream, I would have to through some of this options in there "just because"..

70Chall440-

I agree again with everything that you said.  I love pure stock restored cars, however, in recent years, as much as I like them, I would rather check out something unique like a slant 6 charger over a hemi powered Superbird.  Everyone has the high end muscle cars now but how often do you see the bread and butter cars that kept Chrysler going at shows?  I also have a respect for customized cars, import / tuner cars, resto-mods, whatever.  Its ALL part of the hobby.  I compliment the owners on the hard work that was put into their cars and the effort to keep the cars in the condition they show it.  While I don't necessarily love imports, the owner does and like it or not, its still part of the hobby and I respect that.

AARuFAST-

No, I have not seen the car in person.  Hopefully at some point I will / can.  I will PM you the other thread where there is an on going process with the build.
