Well that sux, cause it was hard to find a decent headliner board 30 years ago...  I had two rough cores that I gave away 15 years ago...

I was fortunate to find one on Craigslist in Vegas. It was a stroke of luck though. Really hard to find for sure. The guy I bought it from had picked up one of the reproduction headliners and he said the shipping on it was a killer. Put an ad in parts wanted forums on any of the forums you can find. You may even toss a couple on some others besides the obvious E-Body sites. Sometimes A or B Body guys end up with a collection of parts that they have no use for.

You might just get "Lucky" Good luck with the hunt.  :2thumbs:

Please clarify, are you just looking for the headliner material and why is it so hard to find?  I just bought a 70 Challenger SE and once it finally gets delivered (long story), I will deal with the headliner and may be able to send the original (depending on condition) to you if interested.

SE challengers have a formed headliner that is covered with a suede like material over a thin foam backing similar to more modern cars... Thing is the formed backing is made of a fragile material that appears to be a cross between cardboard & hardboard...  When I bought my R/T SE back in 75 the headliner was beautiful... But by 77 it has started to sag... I tried gluing it back but the failure point was actually the foam decaying.... So I would us pulling the headliner out to replace the fabric & foam... The car was less than ten years old & the backer board cracked while I was being careful... In the car the board is supported, as soon as you remove the trim that supports it it wants to break due to it's own weight....  After mine broke I glued it & reinforced it.... But you could clearly see the repair in the cloth/foam... So I started looking for a replacement, First I found a Gran Coupe headliner but the cuda is narrower in the rear, if you needed a gran coupe headliner you could cut down a SE headliner.... If you could find one...  Next one I found was an SE but the car had been rearranged & the headliner broke... Back in the 70's & 80's I found dozens of them but it wasn't till 88 that I finally found a cherry one...   So again I wish you all luck... Add it to the reasons that these days I own a Challenger without a roof..

Then theres the trim for the window plug.... SE's are a PITA... All the features are nice & cool but trying to get them all functional & complete as the years go by is a PITA...

Yup: If the guy doesn't give me the rest of the money soon for my R/T SE there will be a window plug, headliner and other related bits for sale on here shortly. I'll be converting it to a regular R/T.

You can try Mike (DAYCLONA) over on Moparts, he makes fiberglass SE and Grand Coupe headliner boards.  Going rate is ~$200, he lives in MA so shipping may be costly for the Left Coasters due to the oversize nature of the headliner.  To give you an example, it will cost ~$280 to ship a SE headliner from MA to Portland, OR.

Back in the Fall of 2009, I came across a thread on this forum that gave some information about a guy in Michigan who occasionally made reproduction fiberglass SE headliner boards.  I contacted him and at that time he said that he had recently received similar requests from a few other people, so he made a batch and I was able to purchase one from him.  It wasn't cheap, if I recall it was around $400 for the board plus another $85 to ship to Ohio.  I have no idea if he still makes these or not but if anyone is interested, I can probably find his contact information.  Send me a PM if you need his email as I won't post it in the forum.

IIRC, his name is Claude and is the owner of SE Headliners.  His mold broke so I do not think he's going to be making any headliners in the near future  :-\

Nope, I've had some emails with the owner of SE headliners about headliner material but that's not who I bought my headliner board from.  The guy I bought from is Steve.  I don't believe that SE Headliners was even in business at the time.

Forget SE Headliners. A couple years ago I tried for weeks to get hold of him for my Gran Coupe headliner and he just never answer me. I found Dayclona and was able to get a fiberglass repro from him. As luck would have it there was a guy in town here that need a Challenger SE headliner and since the shipping was the same for them both we split the cost. Mike was great to deal with and I'm happy with headliner. I got the bare headliner and glued my own fabric to it. The headliner was pre marked for the cutouts but do not cut the holes first. Fit the headliner to the roof and mark the cutouts to match your car. The markings on my headliner were off so I would have screwed it up if I cut them first.
