I've been focused on a red, originally Rallye but have seen the 2004 Viper red and like it.  I know it maybe sacreligious, but I like deep red and someone has recommended a 1957 T-bird red?

Yes, my 1970 was a rallye red.  However, I'll admit that a blue has caught my eye more than once.

A bit out of sequence but I had my dashboard restored by Just Dashes in 2014.  It came out great but you should plan 4-5 months.  I had provided my core but it was in rough shape and they recommended replacing the frame.  I see that some folks on this site have restored the frame and I guess that i should have now that I have more confidence in my metal work,

Here are a few random areas of repair that I worked on.  The driver's side hinge had some through holes.  I peeled the metal back and was able to insert new metal.  I had to remove lead from the door jam for which I'll probably fill with All Metal. I also rebuild both hinges except that I could not figure out how to get the bushings out of those ringed wheels.

I had small areas of rust on the front of both rockers.  I cut the passenger side and realized that it really wasn't that bad.  I then decided to leave the driver side alone since it was so solid and really only bad to the eye.

You may remember that I struggled with getting clean welds on the floor the year prior.  I realize that I may spent unnecessary money here but it gave me an added peace of mind. 

This was the time that I finally tried gas and a smaller wire size for my Mig.  My welding improved quite a bit for a novice. I put jack stands where the suspension would be and kept the car attached to the rotisserie. I began removing the rear seat floor pan rather than deal with the weakened floor patches.  The tricky part for this panel is installing it.  The removal was not too bad with cutting out the spot welds and cutting around the rear frames and trunk seam.  I also took an opportunity to clean and paint the inner frame rails.

Installing the panel required some creative stretching of the package tray supports but the panel will squeeze in there.  I also had to tweak the trunk pan a bit to install the panel.  I used screws to connect the pieces together for welding.  I then asked a buddy to help me with a hammer and dollie so that I could flatten the seam.  I chose not to use so much weld thru primer this time and also used a wire brush on each spot weld hole.  I was much happier with the results.

I installed an exhaust hanger (bolt-in) and then the brake line brackets.  I made a mistake on that one.  The panel came with two sets of Brake line brackets and I mixed a 1970 – 71(?) with the 1973 three-hole mount. I didn’t realize the mistake until I found the bolt-on bracket and of course I had already installed the welded bracket. I removed the 1970 bracket.  I’ll show pictures since I had a very hard time locating a good 1973 example.

It’s been a challenge to obtain quotes to bring the car into paint so I kept going with more metal repair and primer on the floors, inner structure, wheel wells and inner fender walls facing the wheels.  I found this product from Master Series Rust prevention.  It is an industrial strength primer that will cover rust.  It has a very high durability rating due to its properties to encapsulate the metal from air and moisture.  It is known for usage on bridges and has 40% of aluminum.  It seems comparable to POR but a much lower price point.
I fixed the inner fender wall shock tower due to some weakness at the spot welds. I’ve applied the primer to see how well it’s self-leveling quality filled in some marks from over grinding.

I prepared the floor and inner structure by using an aggressive wire brush on my angle grinder on the old metal.  I then used a DA with 100 grit sandpaper to scuff the metal.  The beauty of the product is that you need minimal surface preparation. I also used it on the new panels where I only scuffed the metal with the DA.  I’ll then put a lizard skin heat resistant product and some sound dampening (TBD).

I then spent time wire brushing the underbody.  I had removed the bulk of the undercoating but the wire brush took it to bare metal.  I then used the DA and hand sanded the metal.  Finally, I used Eastwood’s pre-paint cleaner to get more of that tar residue off.  I’ll also put satin black top coat from the same company.

That's a lot of hard and good work there.   :2thumbs:  After seeing you wire brushing the WHOLE interior metal, I'm glad I  had mine media blasted.  Definitely making some good progress there.   :ylsuper:
