    And here is the roof.  I put internal frame paint with a tube between the roof and perimeter frame.  I also painted inside the center support of the roof.  I need to adhere the roof to the center support however the adhesives I’ve looked up (Lord) appears to be bare metal to bare metal.  I had just spent time getting this painted.  I can work on removing some of the paint but do I need to? Any ideas?

    I moved onto the engine bay where I again removed all the old paint and sealed it with the Master Coat primer. I also took the opportunity to further clean –up my battery tray shelf repair.  The welds were not great but a slight skim coat of All Metal cleaned it up enough for where it is located. I plan to use satin black in the wheel wells and the battery/tray hides the issues within the engine bay.  The serial numbers on the radiator support were there but painting is pretty much covered them up. I noticed that there was a sticker over it before so I don’t think that this is a big deal

    Thanks.  This is one of the areas I was telling about.  I could have kept working this shelf but no one should ever notice it.  One issue I have is it is not level (you can probably tell by the picture) but maybe the tray will pull it together or I put a shim under the tray.  I am considering a hammer and dolly but I don't want to open another can of worms.

                                        Same here, I just shimmed under the bracket to get the battery level.

    The next task is painting the underside and wheel wells with Satin Black and further clean-up and paint of the suspension and smaller parts.  I built a paint booth within my garage using the frame of a temporary garage kit I had.  It was a tight fit and I had to use schedule 80 conduit for the roof bracing instead of the metal tubes because I only have a 9 foot ceiling and sloped.  I wrapped plastic of one end up under a partially opened garage door for fresh air and then a sealed 8 inch exhaust fan with a tube routed out the window and into a box containing fabric to catch any remaining spray. It was a tight space but useable.  Unfortunately the weather went cold and wet so I missed my window.

    Finally, I was able to paint.  I scuffed the primer with 220 grit dry paper and cleaned with Eastwood pre-paint.  The paint was only to be thinned a maximum of 10%.  I set the gun as I had in the past but my flow was thick.  I adjusted the air and it seemed to improve but the first coat went on heavy with minor sagging and two runs.  I also had what looked to be shadowing with possibly water but it turned out to be thin areas. I waited a day for a second coat.  I used a sponge applicator to get into the tight areas I could not get a spray into.  I then sprayed the second coat after thinning it more and it went on better and I had good coverage.

    My drying system is made up of a heavy droplet stage, another droplet stage with a sponge filter and then the dryer with desiccant in it and then a throw away filter at the gun. I usually reuse the desiccant by drying them in the oven.  I think that this became an issue when I was painting because it turned quicker than new beads.  The floor and wheel wells came out okay given that it will get road rash and perfection would be wasted. Overall, I’d use the paint again but thin it out even more, and of course MORE PRACTICE!

    My son and I reassembled the suspension including painting the steering.  I think that the K-Frame came out pretty good as did the steering box and steering.

    We attached panels for a fitting and it is finally looking like a car on all four wheels.  No more Rotisserie!
