News:
I bought the hood from Stinger Fiberglass AKA AAR Quality Fiberglass on the web. It was less than $800. They are located in Titusville, Florida http://www.aarqualityfiberglass.com/. I was going to try and repair my grill but would consider selling it to someone looking for OEM. I've not decided on the price since there are a number of breaks. The breaks are very clean so I think the repairs should be straight forward. You can IM me if seriously considering a damaged grille.I'll post more detail on the hood mesh in the future. I don't know that it was anything special but will check with the guy who made both pieces.
BTW- We have the motor and transmission rebuilt and ready for install but the motor still needs break-in. Do you guys use a stand or install it into the car for break-in? That is one tool I can't justify for the price and brief usage.
Well another learning event this weekend as we prepared the motor for installation. I have new urethane motor mounts but they would not fit with the brackets I have. I then realized that my 340 came out of a truck so the brackets were for a truck. I then found the brackets from the 318 so I had to side track and clean more parts. By the way, the 318 brackets do not fit a 340. The driver side is wider than the ears of the block. My research on the site says that most folks put a spacer to fill in the 1/2 inch void. Hopefully the drive train gets installed this weekend.
