Brewers 4spd with GVOD
« on: February 10, 2016 - 10:15:30 AM »
Brewers posting on FB: We recently built this 4-speed with the addition of a GearVendor's overdrive. The addition of GV unit nets you 22% reduction in RPM's at the press of a button. Capable of handling 1000 HP.  Drive shaft needs to be shortened 12". Bolts to stock 4 spd. $2995.

:iagree: It is a stock 4spd and then a 5th with the push of a button.  Basically, the performance of a Passion 5 speed that is available now instead of years from now.

Now all I need is $3k.

How much massaging involved to install a GV in an ebody? who on here has one?

No mods to tunnel, just electric for the OD button.  They commented on the FB post that this mounts just like a stock 833 but the driveshaft needs to be cut down by 12".  The other consideration is if you have an X-pipe exhaust as this may interfere.

I am leaning this way. I have a slight leak on my reverse shaft so have to remove the transmission to fix it anyway. You would essentially have a 8 speed!

I think it is actually a 4 spd then you hit the button for 5th that drops your rpm's 22%.  I could be wrong, and would call Brewers to be sure, but that is what they responded to me.

Wonder what happens if you hit the button in say first or second gear.   :clueless:

Talked to GV - cruising the street in 4th, push in the clutch and hit the button and you are in fifth.  GV said if you are not full throttle and just hit the button it will bang a bit getting in to OD if you hit the button.  In a drag race you can do a clutch less shift in first - full throttle launch in 1st and hit the button without lifting the gas and it pops into OD, from there you are banging 2nd, 3rd and 4th that are really overdrive gear ratios.

From what they told me, it's like having an extra gear between each gear. 1st, hit the button Over 1st, 2nd, over 2nd, etc....don't think I would do that, but the extra on top of 4th would be nice. And the big thing is that you can have this NOW
