AMD fender
« on: February 11, 2016 - 12:07:47 AM »
I bought a left front fender from AMD for my 70 Challenger. It's not even close to fitting properly. Has anyone else ever had an issue with this. I bought just about every panel they make for my 71 cuda and did not have any issues with anything which surprises me about this fender. The top half of the fender sticks out about a 1/4 in from the door and I cant get the front of the fender in close enough to get the gap in front of the hood right. The whole edge that bolts to the inner fender is hanging over a good 3/4 in. Just for kicks I put the original fender on that had some rust issues and it fit like a glove. I spoke to AMD today and sent them some pics and am waiting to hear back from them.

I found the front corner of the inner fender interfered .  I found the headlight bucket assembly was welded on slightly out of position and I had to slot it slightly to get the fender gap or even to get the fender on. This was a 70 Challenger, yours sounds more serious?  :dunno:

AMD is always portrayed as the best alternative to NOS on sheet metal.
How much, if any of their stuff is made in China?

I sent them pictures of my issues and called them 2 days later and they said they couldn't see what the problem was. Would have been nice if they would have asked for more info. I sent them a video today showing all the issues so I'll call them next week and see what they have to say. By the way I got 2 fenders for my 71 Cuda a few years ago and they were pretty good.

Well I talked with AMD today after they looked at the video I sent them and told them that it just doesn't fit and there is no way to adjust it. He put me on hold for a bit after he looked up my order and said they will send me another fender. He said he's not sure it will make a difference but they are from a different run. I hoping since they really didn't hesitate to send a new one that they were aware of the problem. I commend them for doing that but I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!
