Job Transfer: Heading south of L.A.

It's not written in stone yet but it looks like I may be getting transferred southeast of L.A.

Likely to Corona CA.

I'm actually excited to leave my roots here of the bay area.
The lost of living is skyrocketing out of control here due to high tech companies all around here.

Next week I'm driving down there to go check it out.
Any feedback on how living in that area is would be greatly appreciated.

I have a summer friend who used to be a Sherrif in Corona, he moved to Havasu from there after he retired. . I hear a lot of good stories from that area but sounds like he moved out of there a few years ago now.

So far it looks like 150,000 population, well educated, growing economy without high pricing for housing.
My Cuda needs a real home.

And the office there is doing better than where I'm at.

I will never succumb to being a Anaheim Ducks fan.

Housing was high, but the rescission brought it down, however it is claiming again.  Which part of Corona will you be working in, and how close do you want to be to your work.  There are some cheaper areas to live in.  Also Corona is a mix of older neighborhoods and a lot of ten year old and newer areas.

Ha I used to work a couple of blocks from there.
Hot is what Corona is for many months. Yep 91 is the major freeway connecting all.
I live 22 miles west from that spot. And it overall was not too bad. Opposite of traffic flow ok. With flow at peak hours is very tough. I also will pm you my #.

15/91 is were the traffic from Riverside starts to back-up, so you could live in the Arlington/Riverside area, cheaper homes and slightly older neighborhood. Riverside is a good city with lots to do. It is north of Corona.

East of Corona down the 15 towards San Diego, is, East Corona and Lake Elsinore/Temecula area Lots of newer neighborhoods as well as some established neighborhoods, Lake Elsinore has some homes with larger 1/4 acre and bigger lots, Temecula is nice but would be a 30/40 minute drive (with traffic  )

West of Corona, further down the 91, is Anaheim and Orange County, Homes are more expensive in this areas, but you are closer to the beach. Lots of newer and older neighborhoods.

Next weekend around Corona is not a good idea.      As the 91 freeway will have a complete closure for 55 hours. That is unless you really want to see how bad traffic can get.

The main thing that comes to mind on relocation is climate. Not sure what your area is like but we have wide varieties here.
Corona is a desert. Has many hot days. Riverside more hot. Lower cost housing but air conditioning gets expensive.
Southern OC and beach communities have real nice temperatures but housing costs reflect it. South OC is tough commute to Corona except for toll ($$$) road.
North OC has more moderate temperatures. In between Corona and south OC. 91 is main access route and can be a bear if there is an incedent. For the most part it is opposite the main flow of traffic. I ran this trip 22 miles for about 2 years and overall was not too bad.
As noted there is Temecula and surrounding areas of there. Maybe someone can chime in about that.

Main questions I research are:
1 climate overall average temperatures
2 traffic direction of flow at peak times
3 purchase cost vs monthly utility expenses
Etc...

I now work for a nation wide staffing company called Express Employment Professionals as a business development manager. The offices in southern CA. do a ton of business compared to up here.

Deal is off now. Wife won't go with me for moving into a hot area.

New owner just hired a new office manager and said she can't budget for what I make up here.
I told her I must have a garage.

...And I think she was thinking I would settle for an apt. No way!
