What's the Longest you've had a Pet Live?
« on: February 14, 2016 - 02:22:45 AM »
Our cat Oscar is now 15 years old. I'm thinking he can go another 5 years.

13 or 14 years is the most I've seen our Dogs go to.

I hate thinking they are going to the other side once they start aging fast.

My wife's cat made it to 21 then they had to put it down as the front legs would give out while walking.

I've seen a few cats at 20.  Should be fine til then if you feel Oscar is healthy at 15.   I hope the best for Oscar.

But,,,, you gotta at least post a pic of Ole Oscar.   We do love our pictures around here.

Oscar must be an inside cat huh?

Not many outdoor cats make it to ten.

This clown is 19 right now. I had half his teeth removed last year, probably have to get the other half removed this year, he doesn't give any trouble I don't mind spending the money on him.

My uncle Les had an old cat named Tom, showed up as a stray, always an outside cat, great mouser, it lived over 26 years at his farm.... And considering it wasn't a kitten when it showed up it was easily 27+ years......  It was still catching/killing mice at 24 years....

Our las dog Junior, made it to 13 before we put him down

Our current dog Rusty is 15 and is showing no signs of the inevitable quick downward spiral and has absolutely no gray hair on his face except a little on his lips or cataracts which in itself is unusual. The only real noticable sign of his age is that he's a bit more boney than he used to be. We spent 2,000 on TPLO (look it up, it's crazy) surgery two years ago for a torn ACL and hematoma surgery on each ear the las one less than a year ago.  At the time we were not sure about spending the cash but seeing as he is still healthy, it was well worth it. And not to mention, hes a large breed dog which in general go a little sooner than a small one.

This is an interesting topic.

I had a cat that lived to 19.5 years before his kidneys went.

I had 2 fish that I bought in high school. They were a pair of tinfoil barbs, beautiful fish, low maintenance. The female died at 19. The male lived until he was 34.

Don`t need to look up ACL surgery, my last two had both legs done - yes that`s FOUR ACL surgerys I went thru! One recently died around 15, my previous mutt lived to 17, deaf, almost blind, arthritis but still getting around till she started having seizures.
