Don`t need to look up ACL surgery, my last two had both legs done - yes that`s FOUR ACL surgerys I went thru! One recently died around 15, my previous mutt lived to 17, deaf, almost blind, arthritis but still getting around till she started having seizures.

Yikes! One was expensive enough and I couldn't imagine four!

Wife doesn't like dogs either or cats for that matter, maybe she's afraid of competition?  :smilielol: I would have a dog in a second if we didn't live in town.

A good friend of mine had his female cat live to 24, that cat drooled like a Saint Bernard. Craziest darn thing I've ever seen!

That happened over a period of 5-6 years but at $14-1500 is wasn`t cheap!

18.5 for my cat  2 years ago. Was all good until rapid decline. Now have 2 more 2 year olds to replace him and cannot wait until they are gone. Love cats, had some all my life but these 2 are several tacos short of a combination plate...

As for winning. I'm gonna guess it is me. 92+ years and counting. We inherited her from my wife's coworker many years ago that has since passed. It was his parents. That's how we have length documented. When she goes down for the winter we put her in a box in the garage. Wait a few months and we will hear her start scratching and we let her out again. It has been unusually hot here lately and I have heard her fussing again. Still too soon to let her out though.

Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

I have heard they typically live to over a 100 years. Desert turtle is all I got for breed.
Bad ass pet. The wife feeds her lettuce very day. Picky it has to be romaine she won't touch iceburg. Eats cantaloupe won't touch watermelon.  50/50 on strawberries. Goes home to her box at almost every night.

Obviously self contained but have to check on her every day. Damn thing will try and get up, thru, over, under, etc..places she should not be. Couple of years ago she flipped herself over just trying to get over the base of my patio heater between it and a wall. Gets real stupid when it is close to hibernation time also.
Climbing over ac pipes. Got stuck on other side.

Wedged herself under this yard cart loaded with crap. Kept walking it a few feet then turning and walking it back. Almost felt guilty after watching her get frustrated.  Almost...

Had a Chow that lived almost 17 years, a black lab mix that went 18 3/4 years. Currently a lab that is on year 15.
Sadly lost a black lab to lymphoma at 5 years.
All had cancer do them in. They were in good health, no eye, hearing, other problems. Active. Could have gone on much longer.

Mega buck surgeries help for a few years, but it always comes back. It's worth it, though.
