Thanks guys. Sorry I guess I left out too many details. I'm set on restoring it. I realize this project isn't for everyone. You have to find a project that fits your skills, budget and ambitions. This one is a good fit for me, believe me I've thought it through. I'll post up a thread and get to posting some pictures.

First off   Good luck.

 I am currently in a restoration like yours.  I started off doing cab floor first and working out from there one panel at a time  onto firewall cowl and inners.   I used multiple sets of stands and shims to level car but if I were to do it again I would put it on a table and weld it there.   

When u cut out the old panels either sand blast or rust treat area then epoxy before welding new panels in.  I also epoxy prime new panels before installing as I find e coat thin on new panels.  (I didn't use amd not sure what there coat is like).   

Also take lots of measurements before cutting anything out and checking them during reassembly will help insure everything is in its correct location.

Awesome do you have a restoration thread?  Starting at the cab floor and working out was what I planned as well. I first want to spend the time turning the body cart into more of a mobile frame table and get everything level and square first.

You're into it about the same as mine and I replaced the rear end first. I cut the 1/4's off and put in the trunk floor after cleaning up the rails and then put in the trunk extensions and then inr & otr whlhses and 1/4's. The cab will hold it's own usually, and I put in 3/4" angle iron from the w/s plrs down to the inner rockers with a piece across the frt at the w/s plrs and then a short corner piece to triangulate it all. We put in the firewall/cowl as one piece after bonding and spot welding it together and the toughest part was mounting the firewall to the new frt floor section. This was done with the vehicle still on it's suspension and it's important to support it where it normally bears the weight. Good thing you like the metal work- you're going to need that.

Since you aren't gonna take the best advise ... Look through a thread showing a proper frame support system for the level of work your looking at...

They support all four frame rails in at least two points.... A total of eight supports....
