Removing AC

I have a 73 challenger with a 318. The AC doesn't work. I was thinking of removing the entire unit. Will it hurt the value of the car?  Thanks

If you do remove the AC, save the parts so if/when you do sell the car, you can again maximize its value. Some areas of the country, ac is not needed, but in others, it is a deal breaker without.

Is it original to the car, fender tag code H51 or H53.
Thinking of taking mine off, not working well and in the way.

As said , save everything.

Yes it's original to the car. I'm in California so it's needed but the cost to repair or convert it would be expensive. Thanks

Just taking off the condenser?  No big deal other than you may want to switch out the dual groove pulleys.

If you are completely switching your car over to a non-AC car then that is a bigger issue.  you will need a new dash, new heater box, and modify the firewall.

I removed mine from a '70 Challenger 383. Took everything off under the hood and capped the ports at the firewall. Install non-ac big block pulleys.  I'm in Ohio so the summer weather is different. I saved everything because the car is an unrestored original.  Anyway, I like the old 4-40 air, 4 windows down and 40mph.

I would be interested in buying the small bock ac stuff. I don't have anything under the hood for my ac car

I don't like the looks of the AC at all and in Iowa I can handle a couple months of heat without it. I open my windows and vents and it is actually cool in there when you are doing at least 20 mph. When I had my GTO I steamed in that thing like a lobster. Myself I would buy the Non AC car before one with AC, I'm glad mine doesn't have it.

                   I have all the small block compressor mounting brackets if your interested. For the original RV2 compressor.

do you have pictures of the firewall after you capped off the ports?  Wanted to see how it looks.  Also, did you remove everything under the dash or just under the hood?
