WIW.... AAR Cuda
« on: February 16, 2016 - 08:26:49 AM »
A Guy that works for me has a neighbor who has owned an AAR Cuda since 1974. He recently saw my Cuda at a show. At any rate, I haven't talked to him but both he and the Guy that works for me live about a 2 miles  from my house.

When the weather gets nice I'm going to pop over for a visit. The car is not for sale, but the owner is retired and if I see the car I will be compelled to make an offer.

Here is all I know about the car. It has its original drivetrain , carbs and wheels. It's column shift with a bench seat. The interior is black. It's cream in color. Not sure if that means white, beige or ????

Supposedly driver quality but off the road for quite some time. Assuming it's not a rust bucket... What would a strong offer be?

I was thinking 30k

Tom

Yes, if it needs full restoration....I would like to think a bit more if it's "driver quality" as it sits....

wouldn't 30k be high for a car needed a resto especially a bench seat auto car? I feel like at 30k I would want a car that was a bit tired but a good driver as is?

Although a bench seat coloum shift AAR may not be desirable for some...it is a rare combo.  Plus it does have some nice things going for it,  original drive train , carbs and wheels.  So $30,000 seems like a far deal as long as it is not a complete rust bucket.

I found out a little more. Car is Sand pebble Beige. With black vinyl top. Driver quality and does run. It looks like there are no BL1 cars listed in the registry as of yet. I'm not sure what that color looks like as I have never seen it myself.  :clueless:

Rare colour doesn't always equal desirability  :2cents:

Neat car through...the AAR/TA gurus will go crazy over it...

Alan, Have you ever seen a sand pebble beige car? I have no idea what it looks like. I agree, may not be that desirable if its a dirty tan. Or something of that nature.

So, i'm not a fan  :dunno:  It just doesn't do it for me. I wonder what a cuda would look like in that color?  :clueless:

Pretty Blah..... I remember a BL1 T/A when I was stationed on the Amphib base in San Diego... As a rule I've always found the AAR & T/A cars pretty desirable, but that color kinda kills it for me...

With the black top and the fiberglass hood, I love the oddity factor of it.

For the right price grab it, it's still an AAR that someone chose to option this way quite odd for a performance oriented car.

sounds like the car that was in Colorado in the late 80's - early 90's.   Had rear window louvers and personalized plates something like AAR1, if I recall correctly.  Pretty sure I have an exterior pic around here somewhere.
