It was about the third rarest colour back then, so now it's sought after

I never knew that.  I just thought because it was a black car that made them popular.

thinking of trading my 69 charger rt for it. its a 70 grand coupe 383 4 speed car. the charger is a 440 car changed over to 4 speed. always wanted a cuda. both cars are apart and under construction.

The multitude of deaths in the vietnam war made the tx9 color an unpopular color.

I bought my friend a complete TX9 Air grabber 69 Road runner for a gift. He is my friend of 40 years. He loves the car, and will not ever let it go. He is 61 years old now.  I also bought a 69 Mod Top satellite, someone will end up with this car to.  I have owned Mod top a bodies, but only 2 69 b body 69 mod tops. Car values are one thing, friends have no value to me.  I love TX( cars. I just have this one car left that I am able to build

Don

The only other one that compares is a TX9 71 cuda with black billboards . . . . That and the AAR TX9 cudas are my favorite!  I had to settle for an original TX9 73 cuda 340 4 speed!  No complaints though . . .

Do whatever you want, its your car.  If you don't like black, paint it another color.  IMHO if it is not a rare numbers matching  :blah:  car, it doesn't matter.  Also, black is a PITA to keep clean and magnifies every little imperfection.  I had a black '71 Challenger and it looks great, but it would have to be a special car to ever own a black car again.
