Repo Rear Bumper for 1970 Cuda

I'm now at the point I need to get the rear bumper for my Cuda re-chromed.  It turns out that in the Metro Phoenix Arizona area there is not one good chrome shop.    I have talked to a couple of guys in the restoration business here and everyone says the few that are left are terrible.  So I have looked at all my options and if I want to try to get my bumper re-chromed the closest place that has gotten a decent recommendation is two hours away and in speaking to them on the phone they said without looking at the bumper they estimate the cost would be $300 for the bumper and $90 for the two little bumper guards so that put it just under $400 to get the bumper redone.  That does not include the 2 hour drive each way drive and the 4-6 week time to get it done.

Given that is the only "local" option I'm starting to consider getting an aftermarket rear bumper.  What is the opinion of the people on this board for the AMD bumpers?  Are there any other options out there?

That sounds about right for the price.  There is a shop in Tenn. that is supposed to do very good chrome work and they wanted the same price for my friend's bumpers to get re-chromed.  I think the aftermarket bumpers are $299?  So by the time you spend for shipping costs, you are better off with your factory pieces getting done.

I took my rear stock bumper and re chromed it. It was razor straight with no waves when it was done.
My front one is a AMD. I left it in the backyard for a couple of years and it began getting small rust spots.

Getting a new one again was the same price as re chroming. So I re chromed it.

I got a new one in my shed. But i'm in Alabama. 72/74  It's still in the wrappers, but no box.  Yes, my magic mopar shed I just pull stuff out of every once in a while   hahaha.  Not sure on shipping or where yer at, but 200 plus a ride and yer bolted up in a week. If ya got a text number, I can send a pic. Windows 10 sucks for me on pictures anymore. But I could photobucket it and show it here? As a matter of fact, since my birthday is coming soon 175 and shipping.  Best I wanna do for a stranger that I don't even know. But it's new. I kinda move a wee bit slow due to health now adays, but I got some fantastic girls that will wrap it really good for me and go with ups or fed ex which is the cheapest. If yer a tire kicker or anything above like that, the deals off. I got things i'm doing around here. I just help out sometimes on this site only. If yer worried about my rep?  PM some of the guys here. I don't bite. If yer not in a hurry, someone might could bring it to Carlisle and save me some time. I fall down a lot, so don't like to leave my land much and usually can't be left by myself. So someone has to go with me when I leave the property. One time deal. I will take a picture or 3 and post it here, if I can remember. It's kinda heavy for me. But it's a bumper, it's chrome, it's new.  I think a rechrome. How would I tell?  Any part numbers?  ALAN

I got new bumpers for my 74 from Roseville. AMD. Back one fit perfect. Having trouble with the front one.

Guys, thanks for all the feedback.  I'm torn on wether or not to get the one i have now re-chromed.

Here is why I am leaning against it.....  I don't want to drive 2 hours each way to get there as well as having to wait 4-6 weeks to get it back.  The other thing I am not comfortable with is I was quoted the ~$400 price over the phone, it could turn out to be more depending on how much work they have to do.  Right now I am a little gun shy with doing business this way as I was recently burned with my steering box and pump rebuild where it came out almost $300 more then I was initially quoted.   

I'm thinking I will contact Dave at Roseville and see what kind of deal he can do on a replacement bumper.

If I were you, I would re chrome your original.

The finish work on the re pops typically has waves. At least my front AMD one had them.

I was going to re-chrome mine,,,but after doing the math it was cheaper to replace them....

You could ask Dave to INSPECT them himself before they are shipped,,,,he is a good guy,,,,

Also,,,,you do get a discount from Roseville for being a cuda-challenger member,,,so the above prices should be cheaper still.....

Make sure you know what brand you are getting from Roseville. I didn't ask and mine were AMD. Is there different brands for different years?

rt green, will do.  Also, not sure if you are looking for a front bumper but I have one of those that I will be getting rid of.  Both bumpers are driver condition.
