1970 Challenger DELUXE seat belts
« on: February 23, 2016 - 03:05:34 PM »
I'm looking for a complete set of DELUXE 1970 Challenger seat belts. Would prefer a complete set of restored black belts ready to bolt in, but will consider all or any other sets.

For a restorer, you certainly are not very specific regarding your request. Do you even know anything about these belts????  IE:  They come in many colors, do you have part numbers for each belts????? etc, etc, etc??????  And, what would you pay for a complete set?  I can help you out IF you can post some specifics.

Well, they're pretty hard to find.....If you don't know what they look like, I doubt you have a set.

I know what they look like, I know what I'm looking for...I don't have time to research part numbers, heck I couldn't even find a picture on line.... :banghead:.

If I found a complete black set restored and ready to bolt in ....I would pay upwards to a $1000 / set

Thank you...That's the picture I was looking for :worshippy

I see how your work Alan, you wanted Mark to look for the picture, LOL. :smilielol: But in all seriousness, I am not sure if I have seen that exact style before. They are similar to the 71's, but not close enough. Hopefully you will be able to find a nice set.

I just sent Alan my bill for all that hard work.   :roflsmiley:   The belts in this picture came with the RT/SE but I don't think they are E body.  Unless the deluxe belts didn't have retractors.  :clueless: But that wouldn't make sense.

Mark, The ones in your picture look like they are 71 version.  :clueless: :dunno:

Wouldn't surprise me as many of the parts that came with the car weren't correct. I have some B body hood hinges, some Demon door glass, etc. But I'm curious, did all Challengers have retractable belts.  :dunno:  Surely an RT/SE would.   :clueless:

70's retracted into the floor under the carpet. 71's had an exposed re-tractor next to the door. It had a plastic/rubber boot that the belt wound into. Not sure about 72-74 though.

As far as hood hinges, I had a horrible time with a hood on a car, Challenger. I put the hinges on, then with help installed the hood. I did everything possible to get it to close at least fairly close. The thing was about 3-6 inches up on each corner. I adjusted until I finally gave up. Upon real close inspection in comparing to my survivor, it was determined the hinges were off a 71-74 B Body. They look so close, but will not work. :banghead:

All 70 E bodies had the outside retractor under the carpet No reactor on the inner even with the Deluxe belts... Which are an option even on the SE... The deluxe belts did have clips to snap the belt to to store them when not in use.... Also has the seat belt light on the dash similar to the Reverse light on a 4 spd...

The white band & metal button at two clues to the 70 deluxe belts, they came in colors & the buckle & webbing were all colored... The same buckle was used on some 70 C bodies....

I've got a few of the seat belt storage clips in a box somewhere...   The tough  one to find is the clips that are unique to a 70 convertible with the C16 deluxe belts...

Thanks Wild. That tells me the belts I have aren't E Body. Now I got to figure out what they are so I can sell em.

Well, they're pretty hard to find.....If you don't know what they look like, I doubt you have a set.

I think I know a 'little" about these belts, I sold you the original set for your 71 barrel 'cuda back in the day.

I know what they look like, I know what I'm looking for...I don't have time to research part numbers, heck I couldn't even find a picture on line.... :banghead:.

If I found a complete black set restored and ready to bolt in ....I would pay upwards to a $1000 / set

I provided all the original buckles, sliders etc, for a C15 green set for a 70 Hemi 'cuda that cost more than your offering price.
If you are SERIOUS about a super quality set and have a client that understands that restoring a car is not doing it on the cheap. then PM me and we can probably work something out.
