New member, LONG time owner
« on: February 25, 2016 - 08:20:05 PM »
Greetings from north Idaho.  My son and I have a canary yellow with a black vinyl top 1970 Challenger.  It's currently located in his garage in northern CA.  My wife was the original owner and with her recent passing my son and I have decided it was time this thing get updated and driven again.  It was a bare bones 318 automatic with the black vinyl interior, an AM radio, and drums around.  I have all the original paperwork showing it o.t.d. for $3200.  It's been repainted a couple times over the years and had some body cancer dealt with in front of the rear wheel wells.  It has approximately 250K on the frame and suspension.  The transmission is still the original and has been overhauled once, probably due for something more modern here.   It's on it's third motor.  In 2003/4 he and I built up a 360 bored to 371(?) that was well breathed upon.  That motor only has about 5K on it so it should be OK for a while.  Our plan is to completely rebuild and update the suspension, front and rear including going to discs and put some modern tires and wheels on it.  It got a set of 14" Keystone Kustom Klassics with 60 series rubber.  The wheels aren't true and decent 14" rubber is hard to come by so we decided to make that leap.  Undecided as to what to go with yet.  We want it to be VERY  tour-able and yet more closely fit those massive wheel wells.  So far we're liking the Hotchkis suspension kit.  We WILL be attempting to tap into all the corporate knowledge within this forum.  Feel free to jump in with any suggestions knowing what you know so far.

 :iagree:   Welcome from another  :canada:
As far as rims and tires go I'd look at these.... for the money and tire availability. Even 15" is getting pretty limited. You can't go wrong with the Hotchkis kit  :2cents:

Welcome from CO!  I agree with Brad on the 17" rallye's and put a nice set of tires on them.  I saw these wheels for the first time this weekend on a '70 Challenger and they really look good!  I just installed a bunch of Hotchkis stuff on my '70 Cuda and it made a HUGE difference.  Watch for their Spring sale, usually save 25% and free shipping on $500+ which isn't hard to do.

Hey Mike,

The De Anza show, did that take the place of the one that was held at Ohlone in June??
Cheers!

Hey Mike,

The De Anza show, did that take the place of the one that was held at Ohlone in June??

It used to be known as the Ohlone show.
The Ohlone College changed and upgraded their parking lot.

So they moved it to De Anza College in Cupertino.
This'll be the 3rd year there.

Sooo... I've been trying to post pictures but, even with only one attachment I keep getting an error message that says the file is too large.   What gives?
