Just curious: today's prices?

I seem to be the person who never knows what anything is worth. I hardly ever sell anything and I buy whatever seems "worth it". Any way, I'm looking around at some stuff and I see rusty projects for what I think is a lot of money. I looked at a 70 Barracuda that ran but needed a bunch of sheet metal work the other day. Price was more than what I got for my last rust free, painted, mechanically sound car. I have some cars I need to sell but, in the past, my asking prices have barely been higher than these rusty piles and I couldn't get any interest. So this is a generic query: have prices spiked again? Or are sellers delusional? What are people actually paying for nice, drivable E-bodies these days?

Prices have not "spiked" yet, but they seem to be rising over the last couple of years. Thanks to TV shows and BJ,  Mecum auctions some people think that all Mopar are now one million dollar cars.   

My rule-of-thumb  is,  any car I buy is only worth what I am willing to pay for it.  As for selling, I start higher than what I want for it and then let them beat me down some. You will always get somebody who will low ball you.

I think some of this is fall out of Mecum/BJ national TV.  However, I think prices are up in general for Mopars due to these auctions and TV and movies making them more popular.  When you add in a '70 and '71, then prices jump even more due to demand.  A member here recently sold his '73 Cuda that was a nice driver for just under $30k which is a $5-10k jump in recent years.

Ain't that the truth 'Vertman! Funny how that works though, even if you are asking an over-inflated amount for something, if you give the buyer the impression that they are beating you down and you are making concessions to them, the more likely they are to actually buy it from you. Must have something to do with competitive nature of human beings and making them feel like they have "won" the "bargaining" process with you?

A few years ago I put five cars up for sale with the caveat that the first time someone offered me less than 50% of my asking price I'd pull them all off the market. It took three people. AND the guy got majorly offended. He asked "so you're not even going to negotiate?". My response: "have a nice trip home". If I price them at double what I want then people make threads on web forums about how crazy my pricing is. Can't win I guess - so now I'm turning into one of those old guys who refuses to sell anything.

Just looking at Hagerty for a '70 Hemi Cuda it seems like we are on the upswing from the '07-08 cliff.

I don't think it's risen that much.....but prices have maintained at the least for sure...
