on eBay - 1970 Chally 440-6, RT/SE no reserve
« on: March 04, 2016 - 10:20:13 AM »
looks like a great price, but I would think this rare of a car would go higher than $30K? My eyes are not as skilled as some others out there and I see the car has added electronic ignition and the master cylinder top is not correct, but the owner has a broadcast sheet, rotisserie restoration, etc. Why is the selling price so low?

Full disclaimer: I too have a 1970 Chally Burnt Orange ext/int 440-6 RT/SE that I am restoring to OEM/NOS date correct but I certainly would want a he** of a lot more than $30K if I were ever to sell.

is the car market that bad?

He started at $99 on purpose, and it went to $30k in an hour.  This is a tactic used to attract many bidders, like a feeding frenzy.  It still has 9 days to go so yes you can expect it to get way up there.

That's a beauty,  :droolingbounce:.... to bad it's not a 4 spd though.  Sure makes me wish I had never sold my burnt orange R/T SE.

My Challenger convertible is burnt orange with a burnt orange interior, so I am a little biased about the color!
Lots of little things wrong I am spotting, like the black on the grille was painted wrong.  A number of things under the hood, most notably a wrong year wiper motor. Easily corrected I know, but makes you wonder if the car was restored by a second rate shop?
A lot of the bidding is from bidders with 0 feedback....shill bidding.   :2cents:  The car is advertised by a broker and I suspect the ebay ad is just to attract attention and get potential buyers to contact them, not to actually sell on ebay to a high bidder.
From what I can see, I'd say it's a 70-75K car, but a detailed in person inspection would be required to know for sure.

Depends on how realistic the seller is, most likely pulled :2cents:

No reserve means nothing on E bay.  Nothing but cheap exposure / advertising.   :rebel:
