72 Barracuda in Minnesota
« on: March 07, 2016 - 12:47:47 PM »
Does anyone have any information on a 1972 Cuda on sale at www.centralmnmotors.com.  It's on consignment from a person who's first name is Ron, I'm hesitate on giving out the last name. I'm told it's original but the hood must have been changed out since the car was originally a 318. Any comments are welcome. This stuff is all new to me and I would be doing a purchase site unseen. Thank you very much!!

PS: Can someone set me straight on the front/back bumpers. Are these 72 bumpers??

Looks to be a decent car but I would HIGHLY recommend having someone see this in person if you are serious.  You do not want to get burned that will ultimately cost you 10s of $1000's instead of a $300-400 road trip or plane ride.  If you can not see it, look at the member list here as there are a lot of guys here that are willing to help.

On a separate note, buy the best possible most complete car you can afford.  This is an excellent forum to have many knowledgable and experienced guys pick a car apart but in the end it is your car.  If you are not familiar with Mopars you need to be prepared to pay 3x cheby or ferd for any part.  Be realistic on your skill level and set a goal/direction for the car and stick to it so you are not un-doing things.

At first glance it does not appear to bad. It is an original 318 car. BH23G2B371401 They should have posted the fender tag. A good inspection would sure be in order. Good luck if you move forward.   :2thumbs:

IMHO that is BIGGGG money for a 318 Barracuda.  I would google the seller's name and see if a contact phone comes up. I would prefer to do the deal directly especially if its on consignment, I sold a real 'Cuda 340 (BS23H) #matching rotisserie restored with full photo catalogue of the restoration for this price point-and bought mine for just under 20k.
Like I said, try to get in touch with the actual owner...I bet he'd be willing to let it go for low 20's.

I have a freshly redone 73 (FY1/V6W) that I would turn loose of for about the same/less money.  Then I could pursue an AAR...

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm really only interested in 3 or 4 speed manual. Beautiful car, great paint job!

Thanks again!
