Fender tag cleanup

How best to cleanup a rusty dirty fender tag, without ruining it.

use a chemical stripper; wash it good and prime it.

I will seem dumb here, but what kind of chemical stripper are you talking about.

I would use a paint stripper to remove the paint, then if there is any rust, get some evapo-rust and soak it for short intervals to remove the rust, then primer and paint.  :2cents:

 :iagree: any auto parts store or home improvement store will have paint stripper. Soak the tag or brush it on, let the stripper work, brush it off and if needed repeat until clean. Then wash it thoroughly, prime and paint.
