How Noticeable Is This For Tires
« on: March 11, 2016 - 01:05:10 PM »
I might have tire fitment issues.

How noticeable is 275/60/15 versus 265/60/15 on the rear?  Wheel is a 15x8.

I've read the specs to death but there is nothing better than experience.

Sorry if this has been discussed a half a million times.

Thanks.

This is going to be a personal preference issue. Some might say it is ok whereas others will not like it. Not sure where you intend to buy your tires, however I have a local Les Swab that will mount the tires and put them so you can see what they look like, of course they expect you to buy something when it is all done.

What is it that you are worried about???  The fitment, the clearance or just how they look.

This is all about looks and personal taste.  For me, the 275 sidewall bulges too much on an 8 inch wheel. But that's just me.   :2cents:

I didn't think they made a 265/60/15?  I thought it was either a 255 or then up to 275.  If they do tell me where you found them.  That's the size I would like to get.  Thanks

It looks like Mr. Dave is right.  I can't find any 265's.

So if I go with 255 versus 275 the dimensions change as follows

Diameter would be 1" less.

Width .79" less.

Sidewall .5" less.

3" Circumference less.

How noticeable is this?  Does anyone have any pictures?

Thanks.

IMO, not too significant at all.

Play with this: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=275-60r15-255-60r15

Stick with 275, 255 is too small in width & height for back.

I have 275's on my car and there are no issues and I really like the looks. It was in car of the month last month if you want to see a pic.

I agree that 275's bulge too much on an 8 inch rim for my taste.

I just put new wheels on my cuda llast week. I went with 225-70-25 on the front and 275-60-15 on a 8 inch on the back. At first glance I thought the back tires looked to big and wished I had bought 255-60-15 . It's been a week now and I guess I'm getting use to them they don't look so big now. I went with the 70s on the front to keep the diameter close to the back. Fronts are on a 7 inch rim.
