1973 Barracuda in Volv, IL
« on: March 12, 2016 - 02:05:14 PM »
Hello,

There is a 1973 Barracuda at the following link: http://www.volocars.com/vehicles/13263/1973-plymouth-cuda

Wondering if anyone had the pleasure to see this one.  Price seems a little high. Any comments about this dealership??

Thank You!
Jon

:wavingflag:Unles I am mistaken that place used to be an auto museum, if they are selling of their pieces it is a mint condition car :2cents:
:wavingflag:  Quit being offended by everything, I am sure you are doing something that upsets me, but I am not complaining about you!!! It is a free county get over yourself!

Volo is a consignment dealer. They don't own many of those cars.

Rubber seal on cowl missing, square hole in fire?  Like the seat color combo but piss poor fit seat covers.
Either the right side has scratches or it is a bad photo.
No under carriage photos.

I saw the right side with scratches and I "think" it's picking up the lines on the floor but not sure. I agree with everything and I think the grove compartment is not shutting correctly in addition. What should be in that square hole on the firewall??  Might ask for additional pictures of the under carriage if I become serious. Thank you for the review!

I believe square hole is for the vacuum (smog) valve that goes in between carb and distributor advance. Mine has same looking one located on air filter housing.

Too much $$$ IMOP

Me and some of the local car guys visited Volo yesterday.  It's always an interesting place to check out.  They have cars in a more or less permanent collection, along with some vehicles that are temporarily on display, in addition to the large number of cars that are for sale.  Been a couple years since I stopped in, and saw some cool stuff they have currently on display that I hadn't seen before, like a exhibit of Duesenbergs and a display of vintage snow mobiles and snow machines.
I checked out the blue cuda and it is a nice appearing car.  Paint and trim really nice.  Hood was closed and they have signs up saying you'll be arrested and prosecuted if you mess with anything, so I wasn't going to open the hood!
They had the car up on some spacers so the car was raised up 6 inches or so above the floor, and several mirrors so you could see some of the bottom.  I cringed a little as it looks like they painted the whole bottom blue, like the fuel lines, brake lines, torsion bars.  I couldn't see the rear and didn't get down on my hands and knees to look, but I hope the rear axle and springs weren't painted blue too!  But what I saw looked like someone got lazy.  You are supposed to disassemble the car before painting, or mask off if you aren't doing a ground up resto!  :screwy:
But it was a sharp looking car, I'd say $32K plus or minus a little for my estimate of value.
I took some pictures and can post later when I am home and download the pictures from my camera.

Thank you for taking the effort to drive over. I am still interested in it and would appreciate the pictures you took. I do believe the price is high, my thinking is that within 3-6 months if it does not move, maybe they will lower it - who knows!  Next time my flight passes thru O'Hara I will make the time to visit. Again Thanks for the look and feedback!!
