Rear Frame rail

Hello All,

I am going to replace my drivers side frame rail. Does anyone have any tips on this? Has anyone used the dynacorn frame rail with the bracket already welded on? Has anyone used an Amd frame rail?

It sounds like you are looking for the full rail, but for what it's worth, I used Sherman repair rails on my car, so far they seem fine. I measured 100x and they seem to be in about the right location. If I had to do it again, I would prefer to rig up a more chassis table-like setup for better measuring.

Don't forget to buy the rear crossmember as well that ties the two rails together.  Good luck!

Are you talking about the rear shock tower or the crossmember that attaches to the end of the rails?

I used the AMD frame rails on my Cuda. Fit real nice. What I did was I got pieces of angle iron and bolted it from one frame rail to the other and one from the frame rail to the floor before I cut it out this way when I put the new one on and bolted it up to the angle braces I know it went in right where it came out. You'll need lots of different size clamps to get the floor (if its the rear) tight so you can weld it in. Hardest part is grinding the old one out.

I'd check on the frame rack before doing any work.

If you measurements are off in the beginning guess what you will end up with?

All I can say is location, location, location. I would at the very least jig it up with some 1x1 square tube and make it so it bolts up to the good rail across from it and touches the old rail. Use existing frame holes on the good side to bolt up to locate it and be able to reproduce exactly where the old rail was. This should be removable for removing the bad rail. When removing the old rail try to salvage as much of it as you can for re-fitment reasons and assuring your jig when bolted back up is in the same place. Triangulate the jig for rigidity so you can move it around.
