Rear seats from a 2010 Challenger fit into a 1973?
« on: March 15, 2016 - 08:29:17 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has attempted to put in a set of late model challenger seats into a 1973 Challenger. Obviously it would take some modifications, just wondering about dimensions. Plus I like to rear center arm rest.

Have you seen the size of the new Challenger compared to a '73?  Like squeezing a fat lady into a bikini.

It is easier to modify the original to work with the armrest, then the other way round.

I'm not so sure.. The new seats are 90+% foam which is easily sculpted with an electric carving knife... The original 73 seat has a metal & spring formation... There was a recent thread about a resto-mod Cuda being built if Europe with a rear seat from a modern car & while it wasn't my thing it did show whats possible with a little skill & a "can do" attitude..

I am going to try seats from a newer car front and back.  I tried a few for fit and I think you can do it by lifting the upholstery and cutting the foam to fit around the factory panels.  However the challenger seats are big and you would probably be better off finding a seat that you like from a smaller car so too much doesn't need to be trimmed.

I am sure it "could" be done, but just because you can doesn't mean you should... it might be far more work than it is worth.

But I don't want that hanging out of my e-body, my b-body, or anybody else's body for that matter.

Would definately require a torsion bar adjustment on the right front.     :smilielol:
