Which Leaf Springs To Buy?
« on: March 15, 2016 - 01:29:01 PM »
I have a 70 Gran Coupe with about 165,000 miles on the original springs. It is an original 383 car and now has a stout 383 6 pack with a beefy 727.

It's a driver not a drag car and I need some decent leaf springs. I searched the threads but most are 6 or 7 years old.

What do you guys recommend?

Talk to Laura at www.espo.com  -  IMO best US made springs.  They can do stock, 440/Hemi, AAR, +/- inches, and have all the hardware.

I have ESPO's on my Cuda and would definitely recommend them.  Another option is Eaton Detroit Spring, I have heard good things about them but I personally don't have any experience with them.

Spoke with ESPY and liked them. The question is stock replacements or plus one inch. My car has 14" tires and I'm thinking stock springs should work but the plus 1" might be cool.

Anyone have any input on either one?

If your springs are worn out and sagging already, stock will look much better. +1" will absolutely raise the rear, even more dramatic compared to your old springs. With 14" tires I would strongly suggest stock.

Do you guys replace the shackles too or are they reusable?

Thanks

If they are original and/or rusted out, this is a great opportunity to replace all hardware.
