Switching out 3:23 to 3:55 gears in a 489 case
« on: March 19, 2016 - 02:35:35 PM »
Thinking about doing this. We'll have the rear end apart to install the sure grip, so it's an opportunity. Anything special I need to know?
I'll need tp purchase a set of gears and want to know the exact part to look for.

Thanks

why not order a new carrier from DR Diff with suregrip & new gears that way you can use or sell the 3.23 set

Is 3.23 to 3.55 really that big of step?  I would consider maybe an even lower gear.

From looking at the page that was posted in my thread it will probably raise your rpm about 350 at 70 mph going to a 355. http://vexer.com/automotive-tools/speed-rpm-calculator
