Well the Cuda got painted this weekend and really took along time to get everything done. We started Friday evening getting the Cuda loaded on the trailer and taken to the paint booth where it would get painted. We cleaned the car and the paint booth and then jacked the Cuda up taking the wheels off. We completly masked the bottom with plastic as the bottom has been painted and all the exhaust except tip have been put on. We then wrapped sheets around the engine then plastic over the sheets followed by masking paper. All the glass has been removed from the car so that we can spray paint on the window channels. We masked the gauge cluster as the clear likes to come inside every little hole it can find and the cluster has already been detailed. We masked all the wheel well openings and then masked the door jams. We even covered the steering colum and wheel. This took 5 hours so we called it a night and went home to sleep getting back to the shop at 7:00 am saturday. We started spraying the base at around 8:15 am and finished up with the 3rd coat of clear at 12:00 pm. We then did the smaller items like mirrors hood scoops side markers and trunk lid taking another 3 hours. This has been fun for me even though some of it has been hard work. I can't wait to get it done and start thinking about my next project car. The biggest issue I have had with painting the Cuda has been the cost of the PPG paint as the base sells for $61.35 a quart and the clear was $162.00 a gallon and you still need $69.00 hardner and $35.00 reducer. Paint has gone through the roof cost wise and it just don't pay to use the cheap stuff if you want a long lasting quality job. The Cuda is now back home in the garage waiting to be put back together so I can start driving it. My wife thought the Cuda would never run again but boy was she wrong.
