So my question is Factory big block barracuda  OR. Factory small block cuda . The barracuda has am radio one speaker. The cuda has  8 track am radio 3 speaker dash . Both cars are here in Melbourne Australia and are both the same price . Thank you for taking  the time to read this cheers  :aussie: :money:

Is either car numbers matching?  Otherwise, since both are 727 auto's I would go with the BS Cuda.  All things equal, BS Cuda's are worth more in the long run than BH Barracuda's, even with a small block.

:iagree: BS cars are usually around a 40-50% bump in price over BH or BP cars if everything else is equal. 383 cars typically sell for less than 340 cars also.

Hands down, the 340 car!! It is amazing how much that little "S" after the "B" in the vin enhances the value. Show pictures of both if you can. :2thumbs:

Interesting that a 340 CID 'Cuda is worth more than a 383 CID model, even though there were considerably more small blocks built.

Anyone know why, other than desirability?

The NADA guides do not agree with this statement. By a long shot...

Is this a hypothetical question, or are you really considering buying one or the other? If it's for you ... ask yourself "why?" Are you doing it for a potential investment? Then yeah, maybe the BS Cuda may be the better choice over time. However, if the BH car is a factory 383-4v car then that is a fairly uncommon ride. Don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but they are kind of unique with not a whole lot of them made. If the BH car is a factory 383-2v car, well then that is different matter. On the other hand, if you are buying out of pure desire, just let your emotions takeover and go with which ever one appeals to you most. :2cents:
Cheers!

I would add that both need to be looked at and judged on their own merits; one could be in far better shape over the other which would make the decision pretty obvious despite the BS or BH issue. I think the way it the question was poised was which model is more valuable.

I had this choice about 3 years ago. I bought a BH that was a Cuda clone with the hockey stick, emblems, shaker and wing. Primary reason is that I can put Cragars etc on the car and not worry about it. If I had bought a true BS Cuda, then I would feel like everything had to be numbers correct and would be afraid to drive the damn thing. I've driven my "Cuda" over 10,000 miles in the last 3 years. :D
p.s. It is a factory 383 4 barrel 4 speed and orange barracuda.

First off, the 383 is the least desirable of all 1970-71 Mopar Big Blocks.
Second, in the BS model the 383 was the base engine and the 340 was an option so a lot less of them came with the 340.

You never mentioned whether or not the BH car was an "N" code or just an "L" code...another huge difference.
