Interior color popularity
« on: March 25, 2016 - 12:23:10 AM »
I thought I'd throw this out for fun and see what sort of opinions it generates.

A friend is going to build a 70 Challenger and plans to paint it Go Mango. He's up in the air about interior color though and wants to make sure he chooses a color that people would generally like if he ever had to quickly sell it off. It's not a numbers matching special car and i don't even think he has the fender tag so he can do whatever he wants really.

I'm trying to talk him into the burnt orange interior since it's fun and different. He likes it but worries that only a black interior would ever sell if he had to let it go later. What do you guys think?

Go Mango is a certainty with Plum Crazy being a distant back up possibility.

The colours that are not black are more eye catching because of their rarity, but the black interior probably has wider appeal to the masses. :2cents:

Keep in mind that some of the coloured components are hard to get. Before he starts he needs to make sure that he can aquire absolutely everything he needs in go mango if that's the route he chooses.
I love the orange on orange cars but black interior is always acceptable.

I think your buddy is right to choose black if he wants "mass appeal", but if you ask me, I think white would look best :2cents:

Thanks for all the replies and pics! I have a nice set of burnt orange interior including a 4 speed console so were covered there. We'd be repainting metal stuff either way so just a matter of getting the correct paint codes.

My thing to him was that if we do a nice job, he will have no trouble finding buyers if he later had to sell it. 70 Challenger 4 speed cars are desireable in any combo and orange in and out is pretty cool!

You could do black interior with black/orange hounds tooth seats.  That would bring a little orange into the interior without it being over powering.

PITA finding the correct colour dye for anything other than white or black, there's lots of interior bits to colour correctly.

I personally prefer the tan interior on Go Mango cars.

Can't find a pic. Sorry.
