What are these Challenger parts?
« on: March 27, 2016 - 01:38:19 PM »
Digging through boxes of parts for my '70 Challenger project, I came across a few things I can't identify. Figured people here would know right away!  8)
First picture shows a bracket, it's gotta go in the interior someplace, but I don't recognize it at all?
Below it in the pictures are two wire coated cables with eyelets.  One was in a baggy marked "ground strap" and my old pictures seem to show it bolted to the top of the radiator support by the battery.  I looked at my other Challenger and nothing there, same with looking at pictures of other Challengers.  It looked familiar, and I found a console lid strap I bought off ebay some time ago that looks the same, (mine was missing).  Now I'm thinking at some point someone removed it from my console and used it for some sort of ground to fix an electrical glitch.  Wanted to confirm that nothing like this was used under the hood, just in the console?
Second picture is borrowed from Barry's T/A DVD, I hope he doesn't mind!  I'm trying to figure out this small right angle bracket under the back seat on the drivers side.  There is a hole in my floor where the screw would go, but the part is missing.  Wondering what that is for.
Also wondering why it looks like there are 2 cables routed to the tail lights.  I got an M&H harness and I only have one cable. Same with my original rear harness it looks like.

Wires w/round connectors are for the console I believe.

No idea what that long strap is for.

bottom pic, that's where the rear side panel screws too?

Not sure about the items in the first picture, but on the 2nd one, the right angle clip is for attaching the rear quarter cover at the bottom with a phillip's screw and a flat washer. There should be one on the other side as well.  :2cents:

Oh crud, I hope those side panel brackets turn up in one of my boxes of parts, I suspect they are lost.
I'm wondering if the long bracket is the piece that goes in the dash and the back of the radio mounts to it.  I thought that bracket is shorter though, I've never looked at one before other than to install or remove a radio so I'm not too familiar with how long it actually is.

It's not radio strap, pretty sure it's shorter and has a stud on 1 end.

I found my interior brackets in the bottom of a box of parts. They are mounted in their proper place in my car now!
I looked under the dash while out in the garage, and saw the mounting bracket for the radio.  So my thinking that was what my mystery bracket is was wrong.
It's always possible it's not even from my car.  Having been laid up in a couple shops over the last 15 years, I have found a couple rogue parts mixed in with my parts.  Someone might be missing a bracket for a brand x car!

I sort of laugh, but then again I feel sort of sad about something that happened when I got all my trim polished. Several years later I delivered it to the resto shop.  Shop contacts me later and says there was one extra piece with my trim.  No idea what it was for, not for a Mopar he didn't think.  The guy I use for trim and chrome is a middle man, I contacted him but he hadn't heard anything from the guy he has do his polishing.  And by now it's probably 3 or 4 years after I got the parts back. Someone doing a restoration who trusted that polisher was probably very unhappy to find he was missing a piece when he got his stuff back.  I know I'd be!  :violin:
