Weight?
« on: March 29, 2016 - 04:54:40 PM »
Anyone know what the front end of a challenger weighs with 440?
Going to buy a jack and didn't know if a 1.5 ton jack can lift the front end of car safely?
Thanks

a 1.5 tn will be plenty. The entire car weighs like 3500# (~2tn). If I had to guess, I would say the front end of the car probably weights something like 1300# (440 around 800, K frame and associated components 250-300 or so, sheet metal maybe another 200)
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

X2 on above reply. Your not gonna rely on that while you are under the car are you?  ;)
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

No, will put it on jacks.
Just wanted to be sure 1.5 could lift the front by the k member.

You are fine. Just be a little careful where you put the jack, the front of the K frame slopes slightly up and if the jack isn't positioned well it can slide off. Also, be cautious not to jack it up on the sway bar (assuming you have one).
