First since he didn't post this but mentioned it to me in a PM this car/owner is in California so while I agree Alan G is a good suggestion the transport costs both ways & then the increased logistics of a cross country resto likely will become a burden...
Yea I couldn't agree more.....But lets look at the "over-all" cost.
Let's say on the West Coast a complete restoration would cost $80,000.00 USD.
At my shop, a complete restoration with a good deal of metal work would probably cost $80,000.00 CDN as well.
HOWEVER
$80K CDN would you cost about $60K USD......So with that $20K savings, he might be able to ship the car back and fourth....
I got the strong impression that he's only looking to get the rust fixed and the car painted and he'll do everything else himself, so that's not really what I'm into. With having the metal work and paint work out-sourced, there's not much money for me to make. Too bad...I love restoring Cuda convertibles !
