Motor Mount Install

Hi Team,

My Cuda has been out of commission for a few weeks. My power steering leak I believe ate through my Motor Mount on Drive side. I'm going to attempt an install of it. I have little mechanical history so I want to make sure I'm not getting in over my head. If I can find tutorials like with my ignition install I can feel pretty comfortable, but the most that I'm seeing is just that people replace them, with no real walk troughs.

So from what I gathered. Put the car on ramps, Use a floor jack with a large piece of wood to disperse the load and lift the engine. From here I'm guessing the old motor mount unbolts, and the new one goes in it's place? Seems overly simple, am I missing anything? I know the engine has a lot of room to move judging by my dented header, so I doubt I have to unbolt anything else to lift it an inch or 2. I've yet to look under the car, so not sure if there is anything else that will keep me from accessing the mount?

You pretty much have it.  Remember to securely support the car with jack stands as well as the ramps. also do not lift the engine until you loosen the motor mount bolts.  Then just jack up the engine enough to remove the old mount and slide in the new one.  It is a pretty easy install except for the angle you arms and body will be in to get to the bolts.  A wide verity on extensions and wrenches make the job easier.

What size engine? If a small block, I can post pics of engine mounts on engine and bolt-up arrangement...

The car is a 340 originally, but has a 440 now. So i'm guessing it's different.

Thank you - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I have a phobia about getting under jacked cars, so I'll likely have ramps, stands, blocks, and harnesses making sure it stays elevated while i'm under there.

Motor lift only has to be a small amount to take the load off of it and a little more.

Be wary if you haf a fan inside a fan shroud.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

I just did this last weekend.  HOT TIP!  Be sure to NOT tighten all bolts on the side you're working on until the long bolt is threaded through.    I made the mistake of working on the top 3 bolts first and getting them so tight that the angle of the through pin hole was hard to align... So I had to loosen the top 3 to fit the long bolt through and then get the top 3 tight.

no fan shroud. Electric fan, which reminds me that my aluminum radiator is leaking.

Thank you, small things like this can save some time! hopefully the next day or two I can get under there and look at it. The part was late shipping out, so I have to go by and pick it up today.

Motor Mount installed and back on the road. Thanks again for the tips. Time consuming for me, but not hard to do. Feels good to be burning up vasts amounts of fuel again.
