70-71 mirror question

Will mirrors off a 71 Barracuda fit a 70? I know the housings are a little different but what about the base and mounting holes? 
Also can someone give me the measurement of the mirror base end to end for the 70-71 mirrors?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I installed the 71-74 mirrors on my 70 Challenger and the mounting holes were exact. The only difference is the base part is longer on the 71-74's, which I liked.

1971+ mirror base is 6 3/8 end to end.

The 1970 only mirror mounting holes are about 1/4 closer together then the holes for a 1971+ mirror

That's been my experience as well, yet I was told I was wrong last time I posted that..... So I'll just shut up, sit back & wait for the outcome...

Ditto what Mike said: My son's '70 Challenger has a later model mirror on it and it fit fine. 3" spacing

Last night I quickly measured it and found about 1/4 difference in the holes from a 71 mirror to my 70 door.

HOWEVER today I just dug out an original 70 mirror and an original 71 mirror and using a proper measuring device I was surprised to see that they measure the same and that my above quote is 100% INCORRECT !

I'm very sorry for any confusion my earlier response has caused.....I will now go sit in the corner

I am glad you posted this because after reading it I was hesitant from jumping in, but I had 71+ mirrors on my 70 Challenger and last summer replaced them with the correct 70 models and the holes lined up.

Different opinions even here.....
I have a 70 Barracuda with very cheap aftermarket mirrors, 6" base length and 3" between mounting holes. Want to put OEM or reproduction ones on but want a longer base than the stock 1970 mirrors which a dealer says are 4-1/2" long. Was told by RosevilleMoparts their reproduction mirrors for the E bodies are all 3" mounting holes while Stephens Performance says the mounting holes on the 71 are further apart. RosevilleMoparts also said he believes the 70 and 71 reproductions have same size base while others say the 71's are longer. I think I'm more confused than when I started.....
Wernt the Cuda and Challenger mirrors the same or did they put different styles on the Challengers vs Cudas?
Basically looking for mirrors in the 6" base length (+ or -)  with 3" mounting holes.......

Definitely something going on here. I compared both mirror styles and the holes were the same, but obviously there is something different somewhere.

Then I guess I'm wrong too... I tried mounting a 71 mirror on a Cuda years ago & it didn't fit..... I haven't had a 71 mirror in many years so I can't try again.... Oh well...

My 70 had the long base mirrors on it from 71-74 when I bought it , when I located the correct 70 mirrors the holes lined up , Maybe the non remote non racing mirror used a different screw spacing

That's where I get my Rivet Nuts. I use them for many things, great invention. For those not familiar with these, you will need the tool to install them. You will see there are a lot of types of these rivet nuts, you need to pay attention to the thickness of material it will grip. There are different rivet nuts for different applications.
