I got the engine out of the truck bed into the garage!

I am going to remove the trans and maybe take the engine apart a bit, but I will post pictures before I do and do more reading.  It looks like the PO took it apart a bit already as the water pump housing bolts are not fully on.  What should I do?  Take it apart and check it out?  What am I looking for?

PS Do my pictures work now?
You have a rare car there, I would put it back to original if I had it and think it would look sharp back to yellow with the black top. I know you are probably chomping at the bit to get it running and on the road so you could just pull the valve covers and check the valvetrain since it is probably leaking oil from them anyway. Something I did when I put a new cam in was find a set of adjustable rockers from a small block 273 and put them in, they are much better than the non adjustable ones at least I think so. I never saw where you mentioned mileage? Oh and your pics still aren't working.

Got some help!  And things are getting done to the engine.  Trans is out, and things are happening!

What is this bushing called that the transmission mount rides in?  Mine is pretty shot, where do I get one?  (Will FLAPS or Dealer have it?)

If I am missing some random bolts, where can I buy them from?  I need the water pump bolts.

I got a new 'bushing' for the trans for $30 Cad at JB Power.  Got the bolts, very excited.  A cool dude by the name of Wyatt is helping me put it all together.  Ie he does all the work, and I run around getting parts :)

What else should be done/checked/upgraded now that all of this out?

Engine is in!  Bent the rad support thingy a tiny bit, and the distributor looked a little squished, but it's IN!!  I cannot believe it!

(We mocked things up for fun in the pictures, it looked so tiny in there!)

Missing some parts like the shifter bushing, alternator mount that makes the belt tight.

Sooo close!!

Need; alternator bracket, or we might fab one up.  Wiring is a nightmare!  Bought a smaller starter, but it still bumps the headers (argh).  My man Wyatt is working on it and he's awesome!!

I've done nothing and he did everything, I wish I could help him out.  What is a nice, tidy way of cleaning up the wiring?  (Is there higher quality/better loooking connectors/wires I can get?)

The 4 speed is a bit of a problem as well, unique parts like the shifter bushings in the shifter shaft (?), where can I get those or where are they the same?  I have no idea why the PO tossed them.

Help! :)

The bushings I need are the white semi circle ones.  *Hard to see in pic, they are under the 'paper clip' thingy*

Is there something missing around my carb?  Air cleaner doesn't seem to fit nicely around (I bought the center bolt btw).

Is your air filter base hitting your throttle linkage?

I think so, it will hit, what do I do to fix it? Is there a spacer?

(I bought it like this, and I got the air cleaner with the car, just assumed it would fit).

The air cleaner base does not seem to be the correct one for your carb.  Some places sell just the base.

 :iagree:

You will need a taller air filter base (and a longer air filter stud). Just be careful to check clearance to the hood before you close it.
