73 challenger - with pics!
« on: April 08, 2016 - 03:51:27 PM »
Hi everyone,  I've been around the challenger talk forums for a while and thats where I did the second half of my rebuild thread... first half was on a gun forum lol.

Some background -  I'm 22 and I picked this car up with my dad as a project for $4500 originally.  The guy who had it previously left it outside under multiple tarps for 3 years but had it for 17 years in a garage. Being from Michigan this was an amazing find - car had virtually no rust.  It was originally a v6 car according to the vin but when I picked it up it had a seized 383 and 727 trans in it. So I took that off to be completely rebuilt, as minimal bore over as possible and a slightly bigger cam thrown in. Getting ready to pull it out this year so i figured I would say hi.

Now here are the pics as promised.

When first brought home:

Pics of it now:

And a bonus of my dads cuda in the background:

Thanks! Haha yeah he has been rebuilding mopars since before i was born so when you are around a garage of 5+ projects at all times growing up thats what happens.   This seems like a dangerous place though.... so many more things I want to do now! ...but I should probably fix my carb issue first  :banghead:

Nice car, amazing how big the new Challengers are!

I never realized how big the new ones were in comparison until I pulled up next to one

Welcome from CO!  Nice Challenger.
Thanks! Glad to be around here, this place is already giving me too many ideas - My dad just picked up his 5th cuda and I want to buy it lol

Ludington -  On the west side of the Mitten.  His is a 74' but the new one he picked up is a 73 I believe.

Is the drivers side of yours covered in powder blue too?    Finding one like ours up here is like hitting gold!  No clue how they could have made it this long

No it's that color all the way around....my car was in a garage since the mid 80's....it was under coated thank goodness!!  It has 65000 miles on it...so it must not have seen too many winters!!
