Help replacing 1974 door lock cylinders
« on: April 15, 2016 - 07:43:48 PM »
Good evening,

I am attempting to replace my door lock cylinders in my '74 challenger, but I want to make sure that I know how to properly remove the old ones first.

The door panel is off, and I see a nut and a Phillips head screw on each handle/lock mechanism.

Do I simply remove the nut (inside the door) behind the door handle to remove the entire mechanism (plus the two rods obviously,) or is there more to it than that?

Thanks,
Wayne

yes once the rods are disconnected remove the nut & roll the handle out of the door , be careful not to scratch the paint it will roll upwards from the bottom to clear the upper lever , tape above the handle to protect the paint never hurt either . Once the handle is out of the door there is a phillips screw & horseshoe retainer holding the lock cylinder in place
