Has anyone seen a Dana with a drain plug in the bottom of the housing?? mine has a flattend area right at the bottom that looks to be a location for a drain plug, do they have them? id like to have one but am not sure I want to put one in the actual cast housing, I could fit one to the aloy rear cover I have maybe?

I've never seen a Dana crack in that area I suspect it was deemed an un-needed expense, might have saved .35 cents per axle...

Yep to save the expense.
Added feature of casting or drilling.
Tapping
Addition of the plug. Another part number to inventory.
Labor of installing, inspection of install.
Possible returns due to leaking/seeping.
Etc etc etc.
35c adds up to much more quick.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

Hmm ok, I might put one in, I like the ease for maintenance,

On another note, given the back end of our cars are quite light, is there any issues jacking the back of the car up using a floor/trolley kick under the centre of the diff???

Thanks Brad, yeah Ive always done it with the 8.75 and others, just wasnt sure with a cast centre, The axle tubes themselves are 10mm thick wall so I doubt bending them will be an issue!!!
