I would love to have the info to fix it up correctly when you get a chance. Didn't take the time when I was younger to learn a lot of this stuff but I'm all about learning it now. Thanks again for the help.

Check out this diagram:
The alternator indicator light is connected to the light terminal on the alternator on one side, and the other side is connected to the ignition hot (blue) wire. The light bulb grounds out through the alternator when its not charging illuminating the bulb. When the alt is charging, there is 12 volts positive to both sides of the bulb which makes it go out. So, you want your bulb connected in between the ignition feed and the alternator indicator light terminal, not the grey wire on the start relay. Hope this helps!
