Wanted: #302 casting heads for 318
« on: April 21, 2016 - 04:58:42 AM »
After exhaustive researching and considering how much I'm willing to spend I've settled on the desire for some good ol' closed chamber iron heads for my little 318. Although these are supposed to be plentiful in the wild I can only find one person on Ebay selling a single one, and the do-it-yourself junkyards in my area don't seem to have any compatible vehicles. Swap meets also don't start up for another month :P  Ideally I'd like a pair that is re-manufactured and ready to drop in; which seems like should be plentiful given their popularity but I just can't find 'em.

Have you thought about going the Magnum Head route?  I think that is the direction i am going on my next 318 build.  Truck heads are plentiful, and Edelbrock makes some decent intakes.  Getting the pistons right on the bottom end seems to be the key, tho.

I thought about it but there are more variables than I want to contend with at this time. Looking to just bolt something on for about $1k or less. I already have an Edelbrock RPM performer that I don't want to toss and I don't want to mess with having bolt holes machined. My current heads are the only part I haven't addressed when I rebuilt the engine and the valve guides are the weak point right now. Seemed a good time to get fresh heads but I am saving for a new daily driver too.

Not a bad head but I don't want to have to get any machining to bring back the compression. Thanks anyway :)
