proper hood pin direction

71 cuda 340 shaker w factory hood pins, what is the correct direction and height these should the pins/holes be?

Pins run front to back, parallel with the fender. Height depends on whether or not you want to keep scratching your bezels

Does anyone know of the pins that are twisted upright (instead of lying flat?)  I have an old set of upright pins that are worn and need replacement, buy i can't remember where I bought them from... I prefer the upright pins... easier, IMO, to remove and install.

FWIW
I bought those pins pictured above and like them, much better than what I had. They are SS as noted in description. The metal discs are no good, way to thin.
