Cutting down to the mark. New price is $48500. Next project is taking my play money, so this one needs to go. Only thing I could do is keep the wheels and tires and deduct $1500. That would be $47K with nothing but rollers on it, or you can bring the ones you want and put them on. Either way, it's time for it to find a new home. I have loved and enjoyed this car finished for almost a year now. It does run and drive great. My number 314-540-3782

OK folks, so here's the deal. I need to move this car! Other obligations are becoming more pressing and this is in the way of progress. Lets get real with some decent offers and realistic with the trade ins. I want to get the car gone and I won't take cars that are not worth what your asking for them. If they are worth so much just sell them and give me cash. That's better for me because I don't really want your trade, but if it's within reason, we can consider it. Thanks for listening to my rant. If your interested in this car lets work it out. Things can change, and I will be right back to the $48K price, so this is a limited opportunity.
Thanks , Keith

I have. It's on there now. I'm guessing the times and tension in the world is helping to deter people from spending. I sold a 71 Convert Chall with a 20 year old paint job that was starting to really show the bodywork underneath in 2013 for $40K quickly. This car is twice the car as that one and I haven't got serious offers yet.

That '71 must have had something going for it to sell for $40k so fast.  Was it a factory 340 or 383 car?  Four-speed car?  High-impact car?

Things that this '70 that is holding it back some:

- engine compartment.  For $48k, would expect the engine compartment to be painted gloss black and highly detailed parts in there.

- dash pad?  Wrong year

- Instrument cluster?  Wrong year.

- snaps for the rear tonneau?

- no pictures of trunk area.

Red stripe is cool, but was that ever an option?  Not sure.

- color change.  I never HEARD of a yellow car w/red interior (and a white top).  That is quite a crazy combo and may have helped it sell better.

- Restoration pictures?  got any?

- Wheels.  A little blingy.  I bet some Magnum 500s or 15" Rallyes would help it sell.  Folks with $48k don't want to have to pour another $2-4k into it for a 318 car.

OK, I can explain a few things since you pointed out so much.
The engine compartment was not painted because the engine was in it and I was building a driver to sell. They went overboard on the paint job and it turned out so beautiful, that I spent a whole lot replacing cosmetic parts that weren't up to snuff. That cost me quite a bit that I wasn't planning to spend, but I had to.

Dash pad and instrument cluster wrong year....
That was in it when I bought it. I'm not spending a fortune on a dash pad or a different year instrument cluster. As it was I was able to change the cluster for one that had better and all working gauges. I bought new wood grain because it needed it and I was adding a power top, so I needed the switch bezel changed.

Snaps on the boot..
t was that way when I got it. I didn't do that. But on the same hand it's a nice driver and if someone wants to go the extra mile they could change all the chrome, but why spend the money? It would add no value.

Trunk pics.....
I have a few, but never put any in the add. Not sure why.

Red stripe..
I think it accents the black quite well. I know there is a red stripe option because it's common om a white car, but again, it's not a stock restoration. If it was it would be yellow with a stinkin 318.

Color change??? Really ??
It was black when I got it and I don't know anyone that would want the car that stupid combination that was ordered at the factory. Rare means nothing whens it's butt ugly. Plus top was black and good, interior was black and good. It would cost way too much to even consider a crazy notion like that.

Restoration pics...
I have pics of it taken apart for paint. Not much to look at so why bother. Looks like a car with no trim or bumpers in the body shop.

Wheels too Blingy??
They bolt on and I'm willing to keep them. You keep going to your roots looking for a car that is a stock restoration. It's a 318 car with a better color combination. It doesn't need stock wheels. But if someone thinks it does, again , they bolt on !!!

Bottom line is it's not a factory RT, It's a very nice driver with a fantastic paint job. You can nit pic anything. The stuff you listed is mostly personal preference. It still should bring $46-45K without a problem.

The other car was red and had a late model 340 and 4-spd. The car was at best a 20 footer. It also had the same "Blingy wheels" on it. Guy flew in and drove it 10 hours home and still has it.
Thanks , Keith

One thing is for sure "Opinions are like buttholes everybody has one"

I got told over and over my 71 Cuda wasn't worth the money I was asking blah , blah , blah. This was "wrong", no fender tag, no build sheet etc. In the end I stuck to my price and a SERIOUS BUYER came and looked at it, within 2 MINUTES he wired the balance of the money to my bank.

It looks like a great car someone will really enjoy if they're SERIOUS enough to come see for themselves. Don't be discouraged by the negative comments and drop the price it isn't going to help sell the car.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Dont mean to be negative; just pointing out things that may turn off some potential buyers.

It's a lovely car and I surely would like to have it.

The problem unfortunately w/these cars is the more you customize it, deviate it from stock, it takes a special buyer to share your vision and tastes of the mods.

$40k for a 340 four-speed car?!?!?  That's potentially a $90-95k car, so no wonder it sold quickly.

Good luck, it's a great looking car for sure.

"$40k for a 340 four-speed car?!?!?"

It was a 318 automatic car that had been changed. It was a sadly underpowered 340. Car was originally green with green int and A/C. It was painted red and changed to black interior. RT hood and black 71 stripes. Guy painted the car himself. It was and old enamel job. here is a pic of it.  But still, I agree with all your points and it is someones taste. I'm only dropping the price a little because I have another car that needs the money.  I'm sure the one I'm building will send the purists to an early grave  :bananasmi
