Car show rant-fellow mopar
« on: April 25, 2016 - 10:23:32 AM »
So I am at a car show yesterday before work, and a guy is walking around my car, gently picking it apart regarding what interior trim I am supposed to have, yada yada, and tells me he has this 69 GTX over there. So I am polite, walk over to his car, which is a bright yellow, with bright yellow (incorrect year one wheels and caps)...I ask him what color that is (expecting GY3, or something..he says "Yellow", no ****...
The quarters were repro'd, as were the marker lenses as they protruded from the quarter...the tips were wrong, and look under the hood, and it had a fender tag from a 68, which didn't have a vin# on it... so maybe even a 67 or below fastened with pop rivets not screws. I bit my tongue and did not point any of this out.

At least he actually had a car there.  Most guys that pick apart my cars don't have a classic car when I ask them.

Those types come with the territory. I cut interactions short and move on.
The one that burns my a-- are the shows that get biased by the sponsor clubs.
Was in a local show put on by the city. Father's day event.
I had my 68 Mustang in it. (Sorry guys I spread the love). Arguably a very clean car. Show was put on by the local Mustang club that I am not a member of. In judging I and others even better than mine lost out to this bright yellow POS that just had every Pep Boys aftermarket purchase he could afford. Polished (ooh shiny) plates pop riveted all over engine bay.

Never went back...
My rant over now also.

Cooler heads always prevail. Always better to take the higher road Ivan. At least he had a MOPAR and not a Corvette.  :smilielol: :roflsmiley:

There will always be guys like that.

It's very apparent when I turn and indirectly let them know I don't care about their opinion even the slightest.

I usually find a way to end those conversations quickly. But, if he was picking things that were wrong on my car(if they were wrong) I would have relished asking him if his was correct and perhaps having a little fun from there. :poopoke:

Congratulations to you both! Both are very nice rides. Wow!
My car is far from perfect, some people just feel the need to point out only the things that are wrong with it. I just let it go and talk to those who like it.
