The question is: do I need to replace the metal trim for the windshield? My mechanic tells me that the windshield will not be fixed when putting it back in because the metal part (I don't know the exact English term) is rusty.

I don't want to buy replacement parts and do waste $$$ on parts and labor if not necessary. It seems to me that after the sandblasting is done we'll see if something needs to be replaced.

The A-pillars look OK for now, I don't want to cut them up and screw up the whole construction of the chassis if it is not absolutely necessary.

Can anybody take a look and let me know what to do?

Pretty sure the after the sandblasting, you will have a clear picture on what needs to be repaired/replaced.
Post a couple pics after the blasting

Body was sandblasted and then epoxy-primed. Now the sheet metal is being done - I bought new floor pans (AMD).

Rotten/missings parts around the windshield I thought will be a huge problem, but the bodywork guy says he'll sort it out w/out problems. We'll see how it turns out...

Nice! This is the only way to do it, now you know you have a body without rust and it will last a lifetime!

lots of the same issues I ran into doing mine, but very good looking start. Glad to see it's tore down and getting the rust removed. Good luck with the project.

I found my inspiration:

Restomodded by Apex Autosports.

Color is Prowler Purple, I love the wheels and the only thing I might do differently is applying a black decal on the hood. This is such a BEAUTIFUL build...

Enjoying watching the build, don't let the sandblasting discourage you- I was a bit bummed to see what came back but it just means a little more metal work. Having the rust out is a huge relief though.
