How about some pink?

Or Moulin-Rouge to be more exact.

This weeks representative is BS23R0B296096, 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 368 with an automatic. It is finished in FM3 Moulin-Rouge with V6X black "hockey stick" stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior.

This Moulin-Rouge beauty still retains its original numbers matching driveline, build sheet, fender tag and it's lineage is fully documented. Besides it's pedigree, it also has quite an impressive resume to include being used in BF Goodrich tire commercials, the model for the BF Goodrich banner poster, and is a three time Grand National Champion at the World of Wheels car show!

Here is the fender tag to this very accomplished HemiCuda

Did you catch it? There is something that really stands out on the fender tag, and there are a couple of things that are less noticeable. Look again.

Yes, that is it! As beautiful as this car looks, it is a bit of an imposter! Yes it IS an original HemiCuda, but no it IS NOT originally Moulin-Rouge - it was originally EW1 Alpine-White! Additional examination of the fender tag reveals that it was originally an executive lease car (as indicated by the "Q" as the first character of the VON) and as far as HemiCuda's go, it was actually kind of minimally equipped. Although the car now has the Rallye Gauge Package, center console with Slap-Stik shifter, Go-Wing and "hockey-stick" stripes, the fender tag does NOT indicate that those items were original to the car. Despite it being a real HemiCuda it really was a rather "vanilla" looking automatic on the column car when it originally rolled off of the line at Hamtramck versus being a "high-impact" attention grabbing car that most of these HemiCuda's were.

Despite it being somewhat of an imposter, it is nonetheless a show winning HemiCuda and I certainly wouldn't mind being in the pink with this beauty!

Haven't heard anything new about it ... so I would assume that it still is

Speaking of Steve Juliano ... here is another rare member of his collection ...

I do not know the VIN of this particular car, but it is 1 of only 75 1971 Hemi Challenger R/T's ever made and the only one with the M51 Sunroof. It is finished in EV2 Hemi-Orange with V6W white RT stripes, a V1W white vinyl top and a H6XW white interior. The all-in Mopar decorated garage can only be one place - noted Mopar collector and restorer Steve Juliano's shop.

This Hemi-Orange Hemi Challenger is loaded with goodies that includes the A33 Track Pack 3:54 geared Dana Axle Package, B51 Power Disc Brakes, A45 Aero (front and rear spoilers) Package, C16 Center Console, the ultra cool M-28 wide wrap-around grill mouldings (love those mouldings!), N96 Shaker Hood, P31 Power Windows, R35 AM/FM Radio and S77 Power Steering among other things. Between the Hemi, the Shaker and the sunroof, this is one very rare and exclusive Challenger. :2thumbs:

Hopefully this one doesn't also wind up going MIA like the Mod-Top HemiCuda ...

Here is an interesting update ...

Back in May I posted this about the long-lost '70 HemiCuda convertible BS27R0B290994 ...

May 26th

Well since we are talking about long-lost HemiCuda convertibles, there probably isn't one more mysterious and enigmatic than BS27R0B290994. It was one of three Canadian spec HemiCuda convertibles sold new in 1970 and allegedly it was a Limelight over white automatic car. The two other Canadian spec cars are relatively well known - the Lemon-Twist over tan car being owned by Peter Klutt and the Lemon-Twist over black car being recently acquired from Brett Torino by the Two-Brothers Collection (who are those guys?). All three of the Canadian spec cars were coincidently sold new out of British Columbia with 290994 reportedly being sold new out of Port Alberni.

But what ever happened to 290994? There are some obscure rumors to it having been wrecked and junked. Another rumor has it being over on a Saskatchewan farm with a blown engine. Wherever it is, it apparently hasn't been seen by anyone since the 1970's - it has simply vanished and nobody knows what really happened to it.

Or do they? Anyone want to ad to the rumor mill, or ad a clue to solving the mystery of 290994?

Then a few weeks ago I received this ...

I was looking at a post from back in May regarding info on the 70 Cuda converetble BS27R0B290994.  I was working at the dealer when that car was sold. Dealer was Pollard-West Motors. Sold to Don Rewakowsky from Port Alberni BC. Car was limelight with white top and interior, column shift auto, 3.23 8 3/4 rear if I'm not mistaken. the thing had top speed like crazy!! The car ended up smashed and partially sunk in Cameron Lake about 15 miles out of Port Alberni. Seemingly his girlfriend lost control passing some cars. The car was towed to a garage in Parksville where it sat for some time before it was taken away...to where who knows. It was smashed severely. I had heard a rumor that it was possibly in Ontario or Quebec and that it was still in it's totaled condition. That's all I know...hope this helps.

Richard Spencer
Port Alberni BC.

Interesting indeed ... from the sound of it, my money would be on it having been stripped of usable parts and the rest scrapped for junk ... which in all likelihood is probably what happened. :crying:  Thanks for the info Richard!
Cheers!

All I want for Christmas is a ... HemiCuda ... a Santa-Suit Red one will do quite nicely, thankyou!

BS23R0B146415 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made and is 1 of only 45 made for the Canadian market. It is finished in FE5 Rallye-Red V6X black "hockey stick" stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior. From it's surroundings, it appears that this car now leads a pretty pampered life. This HemiCuda is equipped with the A22 Elastomeric Bumpers Package; A34 Super-Track-Pack 4:10 geared Dana axle Package; A62 Rallye Gauges Package; B51 Power Disc Brakes and a C16 Center Console among other things. When this picture was taken in 2011 the odometer showed just 2,479 miles - hard to believe that it was driven that little in 41 years!

Catalog ad from Russo and Steele's 2011 Scottsdale auction where this Rallye Red beauty sold for $151K.

Ahh (sigh) ... oh well ... maybe next year ...

Happy New Years!  :woohoo:

Here's hoping that all of your New Years resolutions and dreams come true!

Speaking of "dreams", perhaps there's none bigger than a Hemi E-body convertible ...
and if I were "dreaming" perhaps there would be none better than Wade Ogle's '70 Challenger 'vert ...

JS27R0B171594 is 1 of only 12 1970 Hemi Challenger R/T convertibles ever made. 1 of only 3 made for the Canadian market and of those, 1 of 2 with a 4-speed. It is finished in FJ5 Sublime with V6X black longitudinal stripes, a HRX9 black leather interior and a V3X black convertible top.

Nice interior view showing off the HRX9 black leather seats. The car is loaded with options that include the A34 Super Track Pack 4:10 geared Dana Axle Pkg, B51 Power Disc Brakes, C16 Center Console, C62 Six-Way Seat, G31 RH Chrome Sport Mirror, G33 LH Chrome Sport Mirror, P37 Power Top, R22 AM/8-Track radio, S77 Power Steering and a S83 Rim-Blow Steering Wheel among other things.

The V6X black longitudinal stripe is the perfect complement to the Sublime exterior and black leather interior. The Shaker hood is not original to the car and was added at some point - but who cares it looks great! The Sublime and black color combination, leather interior, and features of this car make it look absolutely fantastic! This car would be a New Years dream come true for just about anyone! :2thumbs:

A new year, new resolutions and a time for change ...

Change is good ... if you are not happy with something ... change it!

Like this HemiCuda for example ... when it rolled off the assembly line at Hamtramck it was a column-shifted automatic bench seat car ... but that wasn't good enough for somebody ... so they changed it into a 4-speed bucket seat car. Change is good sometimes don't you think?

BS23R0B315070 is 1 of only 702 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made. 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 368 with an automatic (but now has a 4-speed). It is finished in EB5 True-Blue with V6X black "hockey stick" stripes and a H4X9 black vinyl bench seat interior (but now has a H6X9 black vinyl bucket seats).

Sales ad as posted in March 2016 on CollectorCarAds dot com. From the ad, the seller tells us how the car was converted from an automatic to a 4-speed; and from a bench seat to buckets.

Automatic? 4-speed? Bench seat? Bucket seats? Who cares it's an R-code HemiCuda! Great natural lighting, along with the black accents, really makes the True-Blue paint "pop" on this car! This HemiCuda is a beautiful keeper no matter how you look at it!
Cheers!

Say hello to "The Penguin", or as it is sometimes referred to, "The Tuxedo"

BS23R0B216465 is one of a total of 704 1970 HemiCuda's made and of those one of 368 built with an automatic for the U.S. market. It is finished in TX9 Black-Velvet with V6X black Hockey Stick stripes and a H6XW white interior - hence the nicknames of "Penguin" and "Tuxedo".

This multi show winning Cuda is nicely optioned with such things as the A01 Light Group Package, A62 Rallye Gauge Package, B51 Power Disc Brakes, C16 Center Console, C62 Six-Way Seat, H31 Rear Window Defogger, P31 Power Windows and a R35 AM/FM Radio among it's many options. Whoever ordered this car wasn't afraid to check those option boxes on the order form!

That white interior is unbelievably bright ... it's like Mr Clean bright! Wow!

Not to be upstaged by the flawless exterior and interior, the engine bay is equally impressive with King Kong hisself meticulously detailed. With all the attention to detail, it's no wonder that this black and white HemiCuda is a multi show winner.
Cheers!

Concerning the FJ6 1970 Cuda from page 7:
I really doubt that this one is legit. FJ6 was available after Feb. 24th, 1970. Though the SPD says the car was to be built on 4th of March, the VIN sequence doesn't fit to the SPD. The VIN would date it to early January, when FJ6 was not yet available.
The fender tag has other mistakes as well.
Although of course.... the car looks gorgeous!

You are correct on the correlation of the VIN to SPD. However the VIN does check out against a Canadian spec HemiCuda that was sold new in Gatineau Quebec. I don't know why it is like that. A theory is that perhaps it was ordered in January when FM3 and FJ6 were announced, a VIN assigned and then the SPD delayed until the colors were actually available at the plant? Maybe someone like Culvers or KissAlien would know as those guys seem to have all the poop on this kind of stuff.

To go along with "the Penguin" we have it's "polar" opposite which is nicknamed "the Polar Bear" (I'm not making this stuff up)

BS23R0B349154 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made. 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 284 with a 4-speed. It is finished in EW1 Alpine-White with V6X black "hockey stick" stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior.

Auction ad from Barrett-Jackson's 2007 Scottsdale auction. In the body of text note the nickname references for this particular car - The Polar Bear", and when paired with the Black-Velvet with white interior HemiCuda 216564 (I assume at one point both cars were under the same ownership) they are known as The Checkered Flag HemiCuda Pair. Cool stuff!

It may be colloquially known as "the Polar Bear", but like it's namesake, this white beauty may look benign, but make no doubt about it that it's an extremely powerful and ferocious beast!  :burnout:
